In over my head. What is this part?
« on: April 06, 2022, 12:24:45 AM »
So I had the bright idea of replacing the sear spring in my SP-01 Shadow with a higher tension Tanfoglio sear spring.  Long story short, the wife needs a back up gun for Front Sight who requires a 4 pound trigger pull.

After I removed the safety, the sear cage was removed then I took the gun off my vise.  The right side safety worked itself loose and I heard a metallic part come out and fell to the floor. So I found the part that looks like this part on the left:

Am I correct in assuming that this is the right sided safety detect? I do not see or found a spring that may have been putting any tension on it. It seems to fit into the right side of the frame:

Did I assume correctly? Do I need to buy a replacement spring for this detent?

Thanks for any pointers.

There is no spring for the right side detent. It is held in place by the safety and sear cage. A long pair tweezers help with reinstallation. Congrats on making it through this rite of passage without losing the detent. ;)

Some of the CZ75 types do have a spring and different detent and right side safety.

I can't list them off the top of my head I just know the CZ75 Tactical Sport I have uses the same detent/safety in your picture.  The CZ75B in .40 uses a different detent (that requires the spring) and right side safety.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Yep,  that is the right side detent.  There isn't a spring for that side on most CZ's.  You have to install the right side safety and then insert the detent into place.  Note, the detent fits into a groove on the safety and holds the right side safety on the gun. A little dab of grease will help hold the detent in place for sear assembly.

Cheers,
Toby
