Weird marks on center rail on slide where hammer rides
« on: May 10, 2022, 07:55:18 PM »
I have 6 CZ handguns and non show these weird marks. I noticed after cleaning it the other night. It has a bunch of hammer contact marks where the hammer rides. All the other CZs I own have the hammer mark at the furthest point of travel on center rail when cycled. That is not the what I am talking about. The rest of the rail the hammer rides on has similar hammer marks where the hammer rides. Almost looks like the hammer is bouncing and contacting the slide. Instead of riding smoothly. Here is a picture. Hard to see in the photo but if you look close between the back of the rail and the mark where the hammer stops when cycling you will see little marks that run perpendicular to the rail. Gun functions fine. P01 omega.  https://imgur.com/a/UdNRqg9

I would take some 800 grit sandpaper and smooth that rail down just a bit, then finish it off with some 1200 grit.  It will look very nice after that.  I doubt the hammer is causing that chatter.

I agree, it's not the hammer. It looks like some machining marks that did not clean up during grinding. Sandpaper as you suggest might help the appearance, but since there is no affect on function, it would only be for aesthetics.

It feels smooth to the touch. You can’t feel the lines at all. Just see them. I find it odd that is only on the bottom rail where the hammer slides. The rest of the bottom rail is nice and even.

The marks may have been caused during the machining of the firing pin block hole, which explains why they are located where they are and not along the entire length of the rib.

They may have been cause by that. Not really sure. Gun functions fine. I did contact CZ just to get there impression. Figured I should should get the answer straight from the horses mouth. They said the marks are normal and not a problem. They did offer to take it in and have them polished out if I want to which is cool of them.  Ow just need ti decide if I want to leave it or have them polished out by them. Either way I decide it was nice of them to offer even if it is only cosmetic.

I would never send a gun in if I could do the work myself.  Bad things can happen when shipping a firearm.
