funny story about Glocks and Divorce
« on: June 28, 2022, 07:36:57 PM »
So I'm broke right now due to the obvious. I didn't sell any CZs, But I did sell an old Ruger 22 pistol, a 1903A3 and an Eddystone...  sigh....
Neighbor came by and we were all amicably chatting and she said her husband got a glock 45 and was stoked etc...
I instinctively hung my head in shame shame shame...
She asked why I seemed sad and I said quietly/honestly "Glocks suck, I hate them", not to be mean, but just my deep gun thoughts etc...
My soon to be ex-wife piped up - "That's just his opinion... Personally I like Glocks and I shoot a Glock 19(once a year) and...." I tuned out at that point but she went on and on. I thought about explaining in excruciating detail why CZ > G, but it was to a couple of non shooting women so I figured I would keep my mouth shut, and maybe save myself some money and hassle later on down the road. I think he got the 30S which is the exact gun my wife picked out but then hated and we ended up selling because she didn't listen to me and get something halfway decent at least like the 43 that had just came out at the time. Poor guy, I cant wait to let him shoot a pair of 1911s or 97s and a PILE of freshly made cheap ammo.

I'm not going to go into details here on Glock bashing but running a match on ONLY paper scorecards because the old guys cant see computer screens, Unsupported chamber, Crap stock triggers, and poly crap frames(I just like steel) are the main reasons. At one match I saw one 300 pound dude in a kilt with no-kidding a drop leg holster for the Glock. I about spilt all my ammo out right there. Then a worker of the match gives me a hard time because I wasn't all Glocked up/looking bored. He was checking safety I guess, which the gun was cleared and bagged and such but in the back of my mind I was like just let me work on splits today dude and roll on please....I'm all for beginners but what a freaking joke. Most of the people are nice I just don't like the way they run things, and Glocks suck.

Not a Glock fan either but divorce seems a bit extreme for her poor choice of firearms. All kidding aside, I have a good friend who is a complete Glockhead but every time I put a CZ in his hands he gets a huge smile on his face after putting a couple of mags downrange....then goes back to his Glocks that he doesn't shoot as well as my CZs. I just don't get the Glock religion but each to his own worship and such. ;D

I've watched the praise and dissing of various firearms owner's "favs" over time and have come to a conclusion. Each to his own is certainly true, but often as not those condemning or defending the loudest really just want to "belong" to this or that....or have something to talk about. Just my opinion, which together with a dollar should buy you a bottle of water most places.

I own a Glock because I inherited it. Having been forced to carry one the second half of my career (because it was the "fav" of someone at the top who wanted everyone to carry what he liked), really left me with a cold attitude towards them. They work and they are dependable, but other designs are as well and not only feel better in my hand but have form along with function.

I've experienced the divorce blues, but for me it didn't cost me any firearms or any loss of custody with kids. I know others who really got took though.

Have never owned a Glock, but have fired a few.  My issue with them is the grip angle.  They want to point high every time I draw or recover from a shot.  My last experience was with I think a third generation 19.  It was very reliable, but not as accurate.  Part of that was the trigger which must have been 8-9 lbs and very mushy and the a fore mentioned grip angle.

Have a buddy who it fits perfectly.  He did modify the trigger and he indexes perfectly from a draw.  He has completely replaced the upper assembly, barrel and all.  Naturally on his carry bag is "Glock Perfection" though little of his firearm is actually Glock.

My favorite Glock feature is how ugly and utilitarian they are. Never once worried about the finish. It almost says I dare you to Drop in the dirt, soak it in the water, scramble through the brush, toss it in the glovebox. I never shot them as well as my CZs, but I was never disappointed by them either.

I don't hate Glocks.  I just don't particularly like them.  Also, I have quite a few Polymer Framed Pistols in my Collection of useful artifacts.
One particular beef that often goes un-mentioned is the "generous" chamber dimensions most Glock versions have or had.  Barrel Chamber Support
can also be an issue. As a Reloader, I've noticed it takes a good bit more effort to re-size Brass that's been "Glocked".

The only Glock I've owned for well over twenty years is a G17.2 until about three weeks ago. In the interim I've been a CZ man with the exception of a Walther PPS M1 for those times a P07 was a little to big to conceal. With the release of the G43X/48 I decided to get something with more capacity and I could shoot better than the PPS. So, along comes the G48... The guy at the LGS hates Glocks but when he handled the G48 his comment was, "Hmmm, this feels pretty good!" I have to laugh when I think back to his pronunciation of "Glooock", like he was puking.  ;D

I'm a whore...I'll shoot anything. Sure, I prefer a CZ but when times are tough that G22 will get naughty too.

Wife and I took her brother to the range. We each brought our P07s, and her brother had his 19X. She ran half a mag through the Glock and handed it off to me, saying "I'd take a revolver over this thing" !  (She's a keeper-No divorce here)  I finished off the Magazine and his pistol found it's way back into it's case. Her brother ran a few mags with our P07s and admitted he liked them, but wasn't too comfortable with the grip-angle.
He was also impressed by the fact that neither 07 rattled like his pistol did, and was shocked when I told him our respective round counts. Both CZs had more than 10 times as much use as his Glock and are rock solid !

I've never cared for Glocks at all but... a buddy of mine has a nicely built G19 with a Zev trigger, zev slide, and a match barrel. I actually like it a lot and shoot it as well as my comparably improved P10C. Considering how long it took me to acclimate to the P10, that says a lot for his G19.
