Did your CZ P10 have a break in period?
« on: July 26, 2022, 09:29:37 PM »
I found this 5 year old American Rifleman article when the P10C first came out, their P10C choked in its first 4 magazines with Aguila FMJ and HPR brand JHP. I do remember Chris Bartocci from Small Arms Solutions state that his first gen P10C had some malfunctions in one of his live streams a while back. Have any of you folks here have your P10 go through a break in period?

The first day I took my than new P10C to the range (approximately 2 years ago) I shot 5 mags worth with no malfunctions.  Only thing I did was lube the slide rails a bit the day before.

My P10c and P10S both have been 100% reliable since day 1.

I’ll also say my SIGs P320s also have been 100% reliable as well.

I suspect most striker guns from reputable manufacturers nowadays are pretty good, and it comes down to personal preferences.

A couple of years ago I purchased an optic ready p10c. This was at the beginning of the pandemic. It was my first striker fired pistol, and it was a while since I regularly fired a handgun. I started going to the range regularly, and I got a few failures to eject and a couple failures to feed during the first 200-250 rounds. I wasn’t 100% sure it wasn’t from limp wristing as my grip loosened up at the end of a magazine. I polished the feed ramp…. I haven’t had any malfunctions in the last 1500 rounds. I still don’t know if it was me or the p10c, but it works flawlessly now.

Nope... think "the break in period" for guns from reputable makers is largely a myth.  Really more of a period for a newer shooter getting used to their new gun.  (Propper grip, hand placement over controls, etc., OR the gun simply does not fit the shooter's hands) Exceptions are some custom competition guns that are built to tighter specs that might really need some rounds shot through it before they run reliably.
