Canik L-120 Trigger Quality
« on: August 05, 2022, 03:57:32 PM »
Are the Canik clones known for having great triggers out of the box? I found a used one that has really short pretravel and reset, but I'm not sure whether it's all factory parts. It doesn't appear to have any aftermarket parts that I recognize as such.

I have the Canik/TriStar T-120, and it has a very good Trigger and it's stock.

That's actually a good video. To the point, no time wasted. Went to go buy the gun, but they'd just sold it! Appreciate you sharing the video though. I may have to find myself one of these and join the club. Cannot believe the trigger quality.

Have an S and an L model. Stock trigger is very close to a stock 75B, maybe even a little better. Stock I would not classify them as short pretravel or reset, but that’s when I compare it to my other guns. Your experiences may be different. What were they asking for the L? I haven’t seen one for sale in… well I’ve never seen a used one for sale actually.

So just some things he didn’t mention. He has the L model which is an alloy frame. Like a CZ PCR. It really drops the weight of the gun without impacting performance. These came out before CZ had polymer guns and I always wondered why they didn’t market a full size alloy. It has been one of my favorite guns.

The S model is an all steel frame and can be found with the squared off trigger guard or rounded like the classic pre-B CZ. If I recall they had different importers.

The grips are very very very close to the CZ 75 standard. I’ve had some aftermarket grips fit perfect. Others that fit a CZ perfect needed a little filing to fit just right.

A Kadet kit will not fit. Frame rail dimensions are just a little too wide.

The metal work on both of mine was excellent. Better than a CZ. I like the poly coat finish on CZ much better.

The only modifications I made were a lower weight hammer spring. I think 15#s. It’s been awhile and I can barely remember what I had for dinner 2 nights ago but the hammer, trigger and firing pin were NOT direct replacements. CGWs use to have parts but I haven’t looked in ages.

Thank you for answering all the questions I had.

They wanted $350 for it, I think. The trigger was better than any stock 75 trigger I've ever shot. I'll be asking the guy to call me if the buyer returns it. I'd already decided it was getting a red dot, a 15# spring, and a new paint job. Seemed like the thicc 97 trigger almost.
