Originally I used Trijicon HDs on my P-10 C. In dim conditions (enough light to ID target, but not enough to see regular sights as effectively a.k.a. most of my house in the evening) I was having trouble picking up the front sight. The tritium was a bit too dim and the "window" was too small for my liking. Trijicon said it was within spec and refused to do anything about it, so I went off in search of something that would allow me to actually use night sights as intended.
I decided to try Night Fision after reading their marketing spiel about how they supposedly get theirs brighter than the competition. Unfortunately I only have pictures post-installation since I was too eager to get them on, but I'll touch on my impressions throughout the process.
The packagingThe plastic clamshell packaging included the front and rear sights, set screws, and a hex wrench.
The sightsThe sights themselves are apparently 4140 steel. They feel pleasantly weighty. The tritium windows are domed resulting in a little more surface area that glows in low light. The front window is a little larger than the rears. I opted for the yellow front ring. The ring is quite bright. It doesn't pop quite as much as the Trijicon's did, but it's still super fast to acquire. The rear sight is black except for the domed tritium vials. It's got a nice ledge for those who want to account for single-handed manipulations. Night Fision says they're the same size as the factory ones, so POI/POA shouldn't change.
As for the tritium, it's exactly as advertised. At least in my sample. These things are quite bright, which is even more impressive given the size of the front sight's domed window.
InstallationMy rear sight required some fitting. They're made on the larger side to accommodate dovetail variance. I bought Night Fision's gunsmith kit with the sights since my tools have a habit of disappearing when I need them. With the kit's oil stone I was able to remove enough material to drift it in with the aluminum punch. Since these are solid steel sights, they don't recommend a sight pusher. The front went in without any issues.
ImpressionsThey're pretty much everything I want in a set of sights. A vibrant front for daytime and bright tritium for evening/night use. They're certainly better at being night sights than the particular set of Trijicons they replaced. Time will tell how they hold up, but I'm definitely a fan for the time being.
PicturesI've attached a few pictures in bright, dim, and very dim lighting. No dark shots since my phone's camera didn't want to focus.
