75 SA hammer issue and questions
« on: August 31, 2022, 10:30:53 AM »
A question about my unusual 75 SA (Non B), yes that one that no one seems to have seen before.
I attach a photo of the current hammer, the creep/engagement is way too long for serious target competition.
Now, because CZ don’t know much about this gun (there were only a few test models made and sent out), they tell me Shadow parts will fit, but other custom shops tell me its closer to the older cz 75 ipsc, even TS parts. The hammer is 7.8mm wide at the main hole, and the frame space where the hammer goes, is 8.2mm, these measurements are also not standard for CZ 75 or Shadow I think? Can anyone share if these measurements seem odd? It wouldn't surprise me, since is was one of a few "test" pistols made in 2004, before the final release of the shadow the following year.

I find it strange that they would put out this pistol with such a long sear engagement, but then again, it's an "undocumented" so anything is possible.

So I am wondering, if I should ask a gun smith to modify the existing hammer, or I should order the hammer at this link. https://xrayparts.it/en/cz-75-sp-01-spare-parts/156-hammer-for-cz-75-tactical-sports-orange-single-action-only.html - I'm still waiting on the specs of this one.

Thanks for any info you might have on hammer width and frame space width for a shadow or cz 75b!

You may have already thought of this. Maybe not. Have you tried Cajun Gun Works? They might be able to help you with your problem. You might have to replace the hammer and the sear, which would definitely help your trigger issue. Just a thought. Good Luck.

That replacement hammer looks like it would give you a nice crisp break.

You will most likely have to do some work on the sear or the safety (left side has the cam on the shaft) to make it work with the new hammer.

Or buy an adjustable sear from CGW.  Makes installing a better hammer much quicker/easier than filing/stoning on the sear or safety cam.  I stoned the safety cam on my first one and ever since that one I've bought the CGW adjustable sear.

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

What you have to concern yourself is the width of the notch on the rear of the slide.  If the notch on the rear isn't wide enough for the wide shadow hammer (or the TS hammer you linked) it will not work.  You are better off just purchasing the stock CZ competition hammer for a standard CZ75.  It will work and fit regardless if you have a shadow or standard CZ75.  The hammer in your gun (posted picture) isn't a wide shadow hammer so I'm inclined to assume your slide doesn't have the wide shadow notch.

This is what you want.  I assume you are outside the USA.  I've ordered from Cesar Shop a number of times (when I can't find items local) and they are good to go.

As mentioned, you will have to fit the sear leg or safety to ensure proper safety function due to the change in hammer hook bed height.

I'd be interested in pictures of the rear of the slide and of the action in the frame.

Cheers,
Toby

That would be my favorite hammer for this gun:
You can get it from here:
