Bobwhite G2 choke questions
« on: October 12, 2022, 09:18:43 AM »
Recently got a Bobwhite G2 side by side 12 gauge
Looking at Carlson choke tubes for steel for waterfowl
Confusion is only manual online I find says don’t shoot tighter than modified. Says modified is equivalent to full choke with steel. Is this referring to stock chokes? What I’m trying to do is have 2 modified extended chokes for ducks and one full choke. So I’m not sure if I’m suppose to buy the Carlson in modified for modified. Or if I have to buy it in improved cylinder for modified. Had a mossberg 500 pump prior and always ran the full choke stock choke tube for geese and modified for ducks. All help is appreciated so I can buy the proper choke tubes and get her out.

What I understand is for steel shot ammunition, the general rule of thumb is to use more open chokes as steel shot isn’t as malleable as lead shot and doesn’t conform to the choke as much as lead.

So, when shooting steel shot, use modified to gain full choke effects.

Hopefully this helps.
