Dedicated Kadet II frame
« on: November 03, 2022, 07:30:00 PM »
Hi,
I'm thinking about a dedicated frame for my Kadet II. Which would be better; buy a 75B, convert to SA, and install one of the aftermarket hammers or buy the CZC 75 SA frame kit and have them install an aftermarket hammer and SA trigger with adjustment screws?
Thanks,
           Mark

Having only tried one of these two approaches I can't give a complete or unbiased answer.  I can say that my Kadet II hosted on the CZC SA frame with their hammer and straight trigger with an overtravel screw is hands down my favorite pistol for range time.

When I bought my kadet 2 it came as a whol pistol. Not just a slide. With a 75pre b lower . I just removed the disconector and put in a Cajun gunworks 5sao trigger and made it a awesome pistol .but if it came with the sao frame it would be nicer with that upswept never tail no doubt

Mark, I could be wrong, but the grip shape at top of the grip just below the hammer is slightly different between the standard 75B frame and the SAO 85 frame.  You might want to check that and see if you have any preference.

I have been perfectly fine with an original standard DA/SA 75B frame converted to SAO with an 85B trigger with two adjustment screws and a CGW hammer and sear and no disconnector for quite a few years.  CZC can fix you up with something very similar.

Thanks, I didn't think about that.

That is correct, the 75B SA has an upswept beaver tail like the original short dust cover Shadow's. If you are upgrading the trigger and hammer, that's the only benefit I can think of. Another option would be buying a used stainless model with the upswept beaver tail and selling the slide assembly to offset some of the cost of the frame.

I also bought a SA frame from CZC, and then installed a competition hammer.  If I were to do it again, I’d have CZC install the hammer before they sent it to me.  It is a very nice setup, and the trigger now is on par with my other 75 pistols.  I would do it again if anything happened to that SA frame.  It is great having a dedicated Kadet II in the safe.

I have my Kadet II on a 75b frame and a SP01 Kadet on a 75 SA frame. Both shoot well but I prefer the SA frame because it feels like it fits a little better. Best thing to do like already said is hold each one and see which fits you better. Oh and do change the hammer. Out of all my CZs the P01 is the only one I haven't changed the hammer on yet. So my vote is for the SA frame with hammer and trigger change.
