CZ 600 6.5 creedmoor
« on: November 06, 2022, 03:40:27 PM »
This is the first 6.5 I've owned with the 1/7 twist barrel. I'm working on loads and haven’t found a load that I am happy with. I've been loading the 147 ELD-M with H4350 powder with decent groups but wondering if anyone else had success with a different combination

I have 2 6.5 Creedmoors, a Bergara B14 Wilderness Ridge and a Ruger American Predator Go Wild. With the Bergara I like the Sierra 123 grain Matchking at 600 yards. It’s very accurate, well under half an inch at 100 yards. I haven’t worked much with the heavier bullets. Was going to earlier this year but the weather wasn’t cooperating for accurate rifle shooting. I’ve been shooting handguns.

For powder, so far, I prefer IMR 4451 over H4350 in my rifles. Seems most people prefer the H4350 or one of the Reloader series of powder. For primers, CCI large rifle seems to be the best for me. But Remington 7 1/2 works good for me, also.

As I said, 600 yard accuracy is fantastic with the Bergara using the 123 Matchkings and IMR 4451.

Just a slde note, each of my rifles are more accurate and consistent with the muzzle break off.

I like to make a correction to my above post. I’ve used Remington 9 1/2 Large Rifle Bench Rest primers in the 6.5 Creedmoor instead of the 7 1/2 primers. I’ve used a lot of the 7 1/2 primers in other cartridges lately and they were on my mind.

Sorry

My Bergara and Thompson Center both shot the 140 gr ELDS good, but they were both 1:8 twist. I'm thinking the longer 147 gr and possibly a 150 gr or larger may be better for the 1:7
