Meprolight Hyper bright Fixed Sight set vs Dawson Precision Tritium Night sights

Anyone have an opinion on which of the 2 is the better option for the p-01 omega.........both from Cajun gun works?

Use case will be EDC AND home defense, so having good night sights is key, but also something where sight pick is easy at the range outdoors in the sun.  The dawson sights have always been popular and seem to check both of those aforementioned boxes.  But what about the Meprolight sights?  Has anyone gotten them and prefer them over the Dawson sights?

I put the Dawsons on my P-01 Omega and couldn't be happier. Great for shooting in any light situation. I don't have experience with the Meps.

I've been using Meprolight tritium sights on my 75b since 2006 and they have dulled into an almost non-existence. They are the rear sight with green two dots and the green front dot. I certainly need new ones and want to get the same sights for my future P01 or PCR.

I'm curious about the blank rear sight. Did you find it difficult to have no guide marks on the rear sights or does it seem just as natural? As my eyesight isn't as good as even ten years ago, it seems that tritium rear sights would help you pick up alignment quicker.

What do you think? Thanks.

PS. Your stainless 75b is beautiful. I've never seen one in person, but I'm a fan of certain stainless handguns.

I put a set of Meprolight Hyper-Bright night sights on my new CZ P01. I got them directly from Meprolight's USA mail order outlet. I got the one with the orange ring around the front tritium capsule.

They went on easy enough and I like the minimalist appearance, but for me they shot too high and the rear notch was much too small for my eyes so I got out the needle files and opened up the rear notch into a "U" shape and lowered the notch a bit at the same time. I used some cold blue to darken the filed steel on the rear sight.

The sights are good and useful for me now but I have a lot of experience as a do-it-yourselfer. They now shoot to point of aim for me so I'm good to go. The Meprolights are much smaller and I think less likely to hang up in a draw or stick me in the gut when used with an AIWB holster than other types of sights I've seen.

That said, my preference in fixed sights is a bold front sight to grab my eyes attention and a black unadorned rear so as not to clutter the sight picture.  These sights do that for me.  I’ve blacked out any dots on any of my guns that had 2 painted white dots.

These sights aren’t for precision long range shot- front sight is too big.  But it works great in my IDPA & ASI games.  As said, I’m looking at this set up for my SP01 when I get around to it.

That's interesting. Since I've been shooting handguns I believe all my sights had some type of white outline on the rear (S&W M-65 in 1973) but now I'll have to check to be sure. It may be I've shot so much for so long that whether the rear sight had markings or not didn't matter and has become so instinctive I don't even notice anymore as my concentration is on the front sight. If that's the case, maybe a bright front sight as you have may be all that's necessary.

I bought the Meprolight Hyper bright Fixed Sight set for my PCR. They are very accurate, however the rear sight is not colored for day time use, but is illuminated for night time use, which doesn't seem to be an issue, based on my results.

I've had many night sights in the past but recently have abandoned those for fiber optic front and rear sights. I like a red fo in front with green at the rear.

fiber optics are great for daytime use, but are useless in low light conditions. But then again, how many times do we shoot in low light conditions.  In which case, another gun with night sights would be required for those other situations.

Yes and night sights are just as useless in low light conditions as they only glow well in dark to pitch black conditions. This is why we now understand the importance of a good flashlight.
