Who EDCs their P07 stock?
« on: December 04, 2022, 01:46:48 PM »
I’ve been carrying my P07 stock for several years. I have kicked around the idea of upgrading with mcarbo or CGW kit but I’m scared to change that many parts on my EDC. Maybe I’m over thinking it. K

You may be simply thinking about this in the wrong way.

It's not an "all or nothing" conversion. You can replace an individual part, test fire the gun for several weeks, then add/replace another piece. You can stop when ever you get ready, or even backup.

I replaced my P07 DUTY recoil spring and guide with a later P07 .40 S&W unit not long after I got it.  Still a stock P07 factory assembly, just not original to the early DUTY model P07.

I carried it for several years before getting the slide milled for a red dot and rear back up sight.  Springs, etc. were still factory.

Maybe 3 or 4 years ago I replaced the trigger return spring and firing pin block spring with CGW reduced power versions and replaced the firing pin retaining pin with a CGW pin (did the same in my P07 9MM, P09 9MM and P09 .40 S&W.)  Not because of any issues, but because I kept reading about others having issues with the trigger return springs and firing pin retaining roll pins.  The originals appeared to be fine and I put them away as possible spares in the future.

Zero issues since with the CGW parts in my pistols.

You can dry fire test the parts at home and then go to the range with the pistol and fire it at your first opportunity.

Replacing the springs isn't like replacing a trigger, or hammer or a mechanical part that can hang, rub, bind against the other original/factory parts.  Just inspect the old springs to make sure they don't have any odd/unusual wear spots and then lube up the new springs and install them.  There are videos on the internet (you tube) that show you how to take the P07/P09 pistols apart.  Not hard to do, but different than the CZ75's if you have some experience with those.

Pay attention to the instructions for installing the firing pin retaining pin to make sure it's oriented correctly.

I've never replaced a hammer spring in the P07/P09 pistols but that's an easy job, too.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Same with me. It was 7 years between the hammer/hammer-spring update and the trigger/trigger-spring update. Go at your own pace.

I have a newer p07 and it's great out of the box. Love the trigger pull. Only thing I may change is the mainspring plug to remove the lanyard loop. Been carrying it stock since 200 rounds in. Can't find anything that NEEDS replacement

Mine was stock for a while. First things I did was replace the firing pin retaining pin and trigger spring with CGW parts. I have had it for about three years now and pretty much have a complete pro package in it now. If stock works for you, run it for sure!

I carried my P-07 stock for several years. Finally decided to go striker fired to keep the same trigger pull from first shot to last. Changing to the thumb safety was not something I wanted to start training for so I found a used G19.5 for $399. Last week I found a used P-10C for $449 and jumped on it with both feet!  ;D At the moment I'm waiting for the roll pin punch set I ordered to show up to change the backstrap from small to large.

Mine is stock except for the gritty Talon tape.  I'm thinking of fiber a optic sight up front.  It's my EDC with a APLc light carried appendix.
