CZ P07 trigger bar spring damage?
« on: December 07, 2022, 07:10:08 PM »
I offered to repair a CZ P07 Duty .40 for a friend.

He said the pistol had previously been sent back to CZ for the trigger bar spring and that the pistol broke again shortly after he got it back from CZ.

On inspection, the trigger bar spring was missing and the molded "post" where the spring fits into the frame appears damaged. There appears to be adhesive residue around where the spring should be.

I attempted to install a trigger bar spring but it does not stay in place and does not provide any tension on the trigger bar.

Is this a common issue with the older "Duty" frames?

Any advice on what to do? I'm thinking it needs to go back to CZ for a fix that doesn't involve glue.

I have seen this situation on the CZ P07 Duty (Gen 1 or whatever it's called) and the CZ C100. The L-shaped, wire spring rides in a very small V-groove on the bottom of the trigger bar. If/When the spring pops out of that groove, then there is nothing else to retain it. Without the trigger bar, the spring is free to rotate and come out of the hole you show in your first photo. Then it either gets destroyed in the racking of the slide, or drops out with the mag.

The spring is maybe 0.015" dia black wire. Even if you are looking for it, you can hardly see it.

• One easy way to detect this is to hold the gun up-side-down. Gravity then brings the trigger bar into contact with the sear and the trigger will operate properly. Turn the gun right-side-up and the trigger will not engage.

• One possible cure might be to cut the V-groove 1mm deeper using a thin Dremel cut-off wheel. That might more fully capture the spring and retain it.
In God we trust; On 'Starting Load' we rely.

Never had that issue but I'll be looking at my old .40 DUTY just to see what the spring and area around the hole look like.

If it happened to mine I'd be thinking about some type of small brass bushing to epoxy into that hole.

That first picture is "ugly" and appears to show damaged/wallowed out plastic vs. the second picture.

I have had (once) and issue with the spring in the CZ75 with one side of the trigger bar having such a shallow groove that side of the spring didn't want to stay in the groove.  As Wobbly suggested, the groove isn't hard to make a bit deeper.

Good luck with it.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
