« on: December 11, 2022, 12:09:45 PM »
i hope this is a simple fix. by the decocker on my BD is dropping the hammer all the way forward. it no longer stops at 1/4 cocked. i want to fix this myself. is it actually hitting the firing pin?

I have a P-01 and this has always been a concern of mine. Have you been at a range to see if the gun fires when you decock? I am guessing it will.

I don't think it will. The firing pin doesn't touch the primer until hit extremely hard. De-cocking steals all the energy.

For the gun to fire decocking,  it would have to overcome the firing pin block,  assuming your finger is off the trigger.

I'd like to see pictures of your sear and hammer.   I'd also like to see a video of it dropping it all the way down.   A video with the slide off to see what is going on may help.

Do you run a trigger with pre and over travel set screws?  If set to tight you can round the sear interface and create an unsafe firearm.   This may also allow the sear to slip over the half clock notch?

I would be inspecting the sear and hammer very closely.

Cheers,
Toby

Don't have to go to the range.

Unload it, grab a pencil, cock the pistol, point the muzzle straight up, drop the pencil in eraser first, keep the muzzle pointed up and operate the decocker lever.  If the pencil jumps upwards the firing hammer is hitting the firing pin and the firing pin block is not working properly.

It's a B model.  The block should keep the firing pin from hitting the pencel (or primer) unless the trigger is also pulled or the block is defective for some reason.

Block or not, I don't think the hammer should be dropping all the way to the slide/firing pin.  It should be catching on the notch on the front of the hammer and stopping.  Something's wrong.  Not a decocker guy so I have no idea how to check/what to look for or fix/adjust.

Good luck with it, it needs to be fixed.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

That last picture shows that the left side (as pictured) hammer hook is rounded (only side that is used on a decocker).  It definitely isn't as crisp looking as the other hammer hook.  This is a potentially a safety concern.  I'd like a closer picture of the sear, hammer hook, and the half cock notch on the hammer.  You may have to pull the sear cage out for a good picture of the sear.  You may be able to hold the hammer back with your thumb, pin the trigger to the rear to lift the sear as high as possible, then capture a picture of the sear edge/hammer hook on the right side (as looking when firing).

I'm guessing that you either have a timing issue (trigger isn't allowed enough rearward travel) or have set the overtravel screw too tight on an adjustable trigger.  I can't tell what trigger that is in the pictures/video but it looks like it may have an over travel setscrew but it isn't installed?

That spring leg just holds the decocker lever in place.  I wouldn't expect it to affect the operation at all.

Cheers,
Toby

I'd caution you to hold off on firing this weapon until the root cause of this is identified.  If the sear is damaged, your gun could go full auto.

I personally would like to see pictures of the sear and hammer.  You don't have to pull the sear cage for the initial pictures.

Cheers,
Toby
