Kadet Mag Question
« on: December 16, 2022, 02:32:55 PM »
I have a new SP-01 Kadet kit, which came with two all plastic mags. I'm concerned about the longevity of these mags, particularly as they snap into the mag catch. Am I correct in assuming the all-steel #11601 Kadet mag would fit and be a better long term option? The 11601 is pricey, so wanted to ask before picking one up.

It will not work.

I have no problem using them in my gun. It's the plastic ones that don't work for me they don't lock in whereas the metal ones give a positive lock and stay in place.

Interesting. SP01 and S2 kit doesn't have ejector, which in these kits is a part of the plastic magazine. What serves as ejector using metal magazines?

First thank you for making me figure out why the plastic mags don't work. I didn't bother to figure it out before because I have five metal mags and really didn't need to use these. I took one of the plastic mags and slowly inserted it into the gun with the slide back and looking down from the top. What I found was the ejector in the gun (sear cage) was what was keeping the mag to fully seat. There is a indentation in the plastic mag for the sear cage ejector and the ejector hits it. With a little work it could be fixed to be used. As for what serves as an ejector it is the sear cage ejector in the frame of the gun. I put some snap caps into a metal mag and watched as I pulled the slide back to see the case hitting the factory ejector. I've only have had a few problems with case ejection mostly stovepipes which maybe be caused by the ejector but otherwise the SP01 kit has has functioned fine using the metal mags I have.
