Sarsilmaz 2000 experiences ?
« on: January 05, 2023, 12:39:10 AM »
How have the Sarsilmaz 2000 pistols been working ? Are these any good ? Are they worth the $400 that most places are asking for them in used condition ? Are there any weaknesses with them ? Any information is appreciated much.

Can't speak to that particular model, but I do have three other Sarsilmaz made Pistols, the B6/B6P, K2P, and K2-45.
They've all been great with no issues, and I liked the K2P well enough that it was my main CCW for about 4 years, and still could serve in that capacity.
It should be noted that the Sarsilmaz Cz Clones are extractions of the Tanfoglio designs which improve upon the Cz design.

Are they worth the $400 that most places are asking for them in used condition ?

In very good to excellent condition, in my opinion, yes!
As with ANY used handgun, value is directly rated by condition and what kind of use it's seen.
All of my Sarsilmaz Pistols were purchased New-In-Box from my favorite Gun Shop.
However, I have bought used handguns in the past, and most did not have issues beyond the replacement of a few Springs.

Are there any weaknesses with them ?

None, in particular. Properly maintained, they will probably outlast many handguns on the Market today.

Well $hit. I went to the store where there is one for $399.  I took my MecGar magazines there with my CZ factory mags. None of the magazines would work. I thought that the thin floor plate of the MecGar magazines would fit but no. Well I am not going to get it. What a dumbass move on SAR's side. Make a nice all metal gun in the CZ style but make it with proprietary magazines !!!!!!
I have 4 different handgun platforms that are very common and extremely reliable. Any parts and magazines can be found almost anywhere for these platforms. One of them being the CZ75 platform. I don't want something that will make me have to hunt and search forever for a magazine or other part. What a shame , it is such a nice hammer gun .

I've been eyeing one at my local enabler's. It's a stainless model that's used, but looks like new. No box/case and only one mag. I've been back twice to look at it - once to compare it to my witness, and the other to beat them up on price. While I guess you could call it a CZ clone, it's really a clone of a clone, i.e., the Tanfoglio guns. I can confirm that Tanfoglio witness mags fit just fine in it, and the fcg operates like the Tanfo's. In fact, at one time, SAR had some type of co-mingling arrangement with Tanfoglio.

I'm still on the fence about picking it up. The price is right, but it really doesn't fill any niche for me. It's main attraction is that it's from their time in Opelika, with their AL location on it. I happen to live in the Auburn/Opelika area, so it would be cool to have for that reason.
No matter where you're going, there you are.

FWIW, I use almost nothing but Mec-Gar Cz75B 17 and 19 round Magazines in my SAR B6/B6P, K2P, and other Tanfoglio related Pistols.  The standard 16 round metal floorplate Magazines generally do not work in the SAR and Tanfoglio Pistols, but occasionally you will find one where the Magazine Frame well tolerances are on the short side, allowing the 16 rounder to seat. You can blame Tanfoglio for that.  Also, the Tanfoglio Clone Design has evolved to the point where there is no real parts commonality with Cz75B's. Back in the Pre-B Cz75 days, the original Tanfoglio copies had a lot of parts commonality, sans the Safety. The early 1980's were a bit of time ago.
