Grip Angle Difference Between the TSO and Shadow 2
« on: January 13, 2023, 10:38:26 PM »
/Rant

I've been shooting the TSO in USPSA for almost 6 yrs now.  It is a great platform for limited major.  I recently purchased a Accushadow 2 and milled the slide for Carry Optics.  I started my dryfire routine this week doing Anderson's dryfire drills 1-12.  This really is a great way to burn in gun handling and make draws, mag changes, and target acquisition subconcious.

My beef is that the Shadow 2 must have a slightly different grip angle vs the TSO.  When I present the Accushadow 2 the dot is just outside the SRO at the top.  I have to conciously rock my grip downward to see the dot.  I know this will get corrected with more dryfire, but why did CZ have to change it?!?  I've held up both guns and it is difficult to see any difference in the grip angle but for the life of me, my gun presentation doesn't lie.

I'm wondering if the heavier undercut beaver tail is what is causing it?

It'd be interesting to go back to my SP01 and shoot that and see how it feels.

Rant/

Cheers,
Toby

I bet it is the undercut beaver tail.
Slightly different hand position equates to slightly different POA until you get the muscle memory worked up.
Interesting observation Toby

Could it be the absence of a magwell on the AS2?

Not nearly as much trigger time as you have,  but here's my impression.

The extra length on the tso front end and the feeling of that added weight towards the front could be doing it.  I agree they feel (vaguely) different as well and I get the same feeling of a different index from the draw between the two. My sp01 is more alike the s2 for index as well,  which is kinda why I'm thinking it's the feeling of the front end weight that's making it feel different in the hand.

Other thing,  for me, is the thickness of the grip toward the lower half.  Tso feels much thicker on the ring finger and pinky.  Middle finger under the trigger guard,  not as much difference to me.

I'm not sure if the magwell or the balance is affecting it?  I have added Armenov thick large spidergo grips and that is the major difference between the LOK palm swell grips on my TSO.

It will get corrected with enough dryfire.

I won my local match today with the new rig.  I shot a B classifier right out of the gate (with a slight fumble on a table mag reload).

Cheers,
Toby

Congratulations   ;)
If I had known how much better being retired is than working I would have done it FIRST.

Send the gun to me and I'll take a look. I may even return it.  O0
