About 5 nights, an hour each night.

I stripped it in 4 staged - about a fourth of the stock at a time.  Citrustrip is pretty easy to work with - not toxic, but it takes at least 2 coats of stripper.  Took two evenings to strip.

Took 3 days to finish (so far).  One night for the sealer to dry, and 1 night each for the tung oil.  I think I will put another coat of tung oil on it.

I will get pictures up this weekend.  Its not the greatest stock, but not bad, either.  Just honest wood.

I don't like the non-detachable swivels, and will either plug the holes with brass contoured to the stock or replace them with Uncle Mike's studs.  Or with better nondetachable swivels.

BTW, the rifle is a 550 FS in .308.  I shot it today with LC surpus to see how it grouped.  l also free-floated the barrel when I refinished it.

The first two shots in each series were about an inch apart.  Then as the barrel would heat up, the shots would spread out.  If I let it cool down, it came back into group for the first two shots again, then opened up.

Anyone try a fixed preasure point between the stock and the barrel?

And the sights do suck.  It needs a peep sight.
