Help Identifying Czech 7x57-please
« on: August 29, 2005, 10:41:27 AM »
My wife's father died recently and her brother brought a rifle to me that was given to their father in North Carolina about 25 years ago.

It says "made in Czechoslavakia" on the barrel, so I assume it was manufactured by CZ. The trigger says "Jaeger" on it. The bolt handle is just a rounded off lever instead of a round ball (like a Steyer bolt handle).

The Iron sights are odd in that the front bead is aligned over a flat-topped rear sight with a white triangle pointing just underneath the bead when properly aligned.

The saftey is a thumb lever on the left side of the bolt that is pushed down to the fire position.

The floorplate has a recessed release button.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Is it a CZ? What model #?

Among factory 7 Mauser ammo--what do you guys like to shoot?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Someone on another gunwebsite suggested that this rifle might be a Brno. Is Brno a different Czech armsmaker? Or, is Brno part of the CZ corporation?
