I have a CZ 550 FS in &x64. You are right it is similar to the 280 but was developed decades before. I am not sure why you would go to the trouble to change it to a 280. Factory loads are available for it. If you handload brass and data are also easy to get

I have a CZ 550 in 7x64 Brenneke.  It pre-dates the 280 by many decades and is identical in performance.  The German reloading manual "Wiederladen" gives a very slight edge to the 7x64.  The cartridges, however, are not interchangable and due to the cartridge dimensions, I do not think you will be successful trying to rechamber it.  A 280 cannot be rechambered to 7x64.  7x64 to 280?  Not positive but I think not but I can't say for sure unless I go compare dimensions.  7x64 is a classic.  Why do you want to rechamber it?  Ammo is a little easier to find in 280 but 7x64 isn't that hard.  It's imported from S&B and RWS and a couple U.S. companies make it - I think Hornady does and Remington did but I don't know if they still do.  As good as the 7x64 is, I'm thinking of reboring mine to an 8x64 Brenneke, not because of anything the 7x64 won't do, but just because I have a thing for 8mm!  Good shooting!
