What’s the difference between the new Kadet and Kadet 2
« on: February 14, 2023, 03:57:43 PM »
Hi guys,

I’m new to this conversion kit. Looks like there are two kits available, the sp-01 kit which has a full slide and Kadet 2 kit that has two separate parts in the upper which was discontinued in 2022?
Sp-01

Kadet 2

While they have obvious different designs, I did not find any user experience on the sp-01 kit, almost everything posted is about the Kadet 2.

Anyone here have both and what is a better kit? Thanks.

I got the SP01 kit pre-installed on a cz custom sa frame...love it...just needed to sand down the plastic tube that goes with the guide rod just a sliver so that it would lock up tight every time...before that it was just enough for a light strike or two every magazine...after...fires every time...

I have the Kadet 2 and a P-07 Kadet that is similar to the SP-01 Kadet.

The Kadet 2 is all steel and has a fixed barrel. Only a small section of the slide reciprocates.

The P-07 Kadet has a tilting barrel with an aluminum slide. The full slide reciprocates.

The Kadet 2 tends to have a better reputation but it has been around for a long time. The other Kadets are newer. I am interested to hear the input of other forum members.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

I have both kits. I bought the Kadet 2 kit first and had a lot of stovepipes and almost sold it until I read the how too here and fixed it. Now it's I'd say 99% and sits on a 75b frame. I bought the SP01 kit because I liked the look and wanted another 22lr for my CZs. I first put it on my SP01 but soon moved it to a 75 SA frame where I enjoyed shooting it more. Well now the SP01 kit sits on my original Tac Sport frame thanks to MuayThaiJJ making a how too on making it work and I now really enjoy shooting it. The two main differences between the two is one is metal and the other is aluminum and the way each cycles as already mentioned. Being all metal the weight of the Kadet 2 will mimic your 9 or 40 that you shoot in the weight of the gun. The weight of the SP01 kit being aluminum might throw you off some if you are practice shooting. I will say this again with the SP kit on my TS and making it so much lighter I really enjoy shooting it that way. The only problem I see is if you want to have a Kadet 2 kit good luck finding one and if you do you probably will be paying up for it. As for the SP01 they do show up here and there and can still be bought brand new. Honestly they both shoot very well with weight being the only difference I can see.

Redhemi I assume the SP01 Kadet should fit on a CZ75B frame if it fits your SA? I missed out on the Kadet 2 and really want a .22 conversion for my 75B. They market it as if it only fits the SP01, which seems weird since they are so mechanically similar to other 75's. I just want to make sure before i make a $400 mistake ;D!

Thanks!

The kit will fit the 75 frame (made sure this morning) but the plastic SP01 22 mags do not work. You would have to get the Kadet 2 metal mags. Good luck finding them and be prepared to pay a stupid price for them.
