New Toy!
« on: February 15, 2023, 07:14:46 PM »
Just picked up my new Shadow 2 OR! And... remembered the lack of rear serations as soon as my thunb and finger slipped off the slide when racking! Ok, I'm now officially a front serration user on all my CZ's. But the good news is that when Mgmt.saw it she said "I like the blue grips"!.  Wheww! Now to order my optics plate from CZ Parts. But... which RDS to go with?  Looking at the Holosun 507 and 508. But that new 507 Comp really looks good, but not interested in waiting months for it to get out to the interwebs or LGS.
Probably not going to compete, but maybe...Could go with the Sig Romeo Pro 1, like the large window. But have a couple weeks to decide. Just more fun reviewing what people say and online reviews.

I've been resisting the urge.

I like my Shadow 1 (RDS milled at CZC) and I doubt the Shadow 2 would increase my scores but I recently handled a friend's Shadow 2 and its started an itch.  I could keep up with him when he was shooting a Glock (almost) but he has left me in the dust with the S2.  I just keep reminding myself how much ammo I could buy for the cost of a new pistol, optic, plate, (probably grips) and Comp Tac holster.  For now I'll focus on ammo and training but the Shadow 2 is definitely a good piece.

I run a Delta Point on a P10F and the Shadow 1 and have had good luck.  P10 has around 2K rounds and the Shadow is around 5K with no issues.  I prefer the ACRO P2 that I use at work or the SRO but I can get the Leupold for around $340 (another friend sells and gives a good discount) and I don't make any money at the range.  The only issue with the DPP that can be frustrating is the way you change the intensity of the dot. Straightforward, but your finger blocks the aperture when adjusting.

I don't have any experience with Holosuns.  I try to avoid supporting the CCP but quite a few people like them.

Enjoy the Shadow 2.

Don’t lose all your muscle memory racking from the rear, just grab that dot and yank it! Couple of guys at the range have even added grip tape to the body.

I like the Romeo 1 pro best.  I wish Sig made it with a green recticle, old eyes don’t pickup red as easy anymore

X2

For USPSA I use the Holsun with the 32 MOA circle, works great for me.
If I had known how much better being retired is than working I would have done it FIRST.
