jsut picked up my first entrant into the world of CZ rifles today; a .223 527 American. great looker if i ever saw one! anyhow, for those of you out there who own one of these guns, what kind of accuracy are they capable of? i managed a 3-shot group of just over 1" @100yds, but as it was 10 degrees today, and i was freezing, i am sure I can do better, and i imagine the rifle can do MUCH better.

so waht will this lil' pup do?

oh, 'nother question, do they all come with the trick set-trigger, cause it's really cool.

I own a 452 varmint and I am thinking about buying a 527 or 550.  Please describe the trigger.  What do you mean by "trick set-trigger".  Please describe how it works.

well, you push the trigger forward a little bit and it gives you a very, very light trigger pull. the trigger is adjustable for pre-travel, post-travel, pull weight, and the pull weight of the set trigger. hope this helps.

Mongoose, I have a 527 American in .223 and have tried numerous loads in it ranging from the cheap surplus ammo to premium factory loads and a bunch of handloads.  My experience has been mixed and the accuracy varies significantly depending upon the ammo you use.  I have found the cheap surplus stuff is good for plinking but not very accurate with the exception of Federal (XM193) 55 grain FMJ surplus ammo which produced 3/4" groups.  Some of the premium factory loads weren't much better.  The best factory load I have found is the Winchester Supreme 50 grain Ballistic Tip which also produced 3/4" groups.  The Winchester Supreme 64 grain Power Point Plus and the Federal Premium Trophy Bonded Bearclaw did not group well at all in my rifle, these two rounds produced 1 1/2" plus groups.  The best handloads I have worked up to date is are a 60 grain Nosler Partition and a 60 grain Hornady Hornady V-Max over 25.5 grains or RL-15 which consistently produce 1/2" to max 3/4" groups.  Stay away from anything with a bullet weight over 60 grains if your rifle has a twist rate of 1 in 12".  All of the older 527/223's have a 1 in 12" twist but it is my understanding CZ is switching to a faster twist rate in their 223's.
