Any reason why the raceways on the 550 look so rough?

Picked up a NIB 550 American in .308 today to look at.  The raceways an dthe back tang of the receiver show definite machine marks.  I was hoping it woul dbe a bit more refined.  Also, bolt travel was sluggish, although I have to woder if the rough machining inside was a contributor to that.

Most Mauser based receiver are'nt mirror finish, but CZ's  will smoothen-up after 100 or so cycling.

Lots of tubular rifle construction are smoother but lack  claw-extraction(Savage, Remington, etc.). But I've seen Savages which were rough also:\

True.  It just seemed a bit more rough than usual for models I have seen.  Didn't stop me though.  Bought the 550.  Now on a hunt for the scope (pun intended:D )
