Favorite rifle magazine authors?

My first interest in riflery was lighted up by Jim Carmicael(I even have a letter I had sent to him, with his reply).

Thru the years my rifle questions were increasing with little answers until I fell upon: John R. Sundra(at the time G&A) , his knowledge of rifles, ballistics, etc. leaves a whole bunch of gun writer behind(even nowadays )

Another fine writer which unluckely I've just learned to read is Wayne van Zwoll(Rifle Shooter & various other publications).

I regular like to read Craig Boddington articles, which are always good & to the point.

Any other which you may hink of: ?

Boddington is the man.  You gotta love a guy who can appreciate a rifle from all aspects.  I mean he is someone who has hunted the world for wild game and enemy third worlders.  I love his no non-sense style, and unlike other gun writers, I have even seen him make negative comments about rifles that he does not like.  Most writers seem worried about sponsorship and claim to love every piece of junk that can spit out a hunk of lead.  Truly a "Great American".  Second on the list, though rifles are not his main focus, Jim Zumbo is very good when he comments on his arsenal.  And finally, if we expand into tactical weapons, Peter Kohkalis (spelling?).  He is very hard to beat on anything battlefield related.

Authors are'nt the last to judge if an article goes thru or not but the publishers are(most of these have a tight  symbiotic relation with gun companies= return of the elevator principle), the authors which I've mentioned either changed magazine publishers or tried to start something new on their part more than once(mostly due to publishers telling them what to do or not do. Beware what you read, everything has to be read with a grain of salt. Boddington history I'm not familiar with but is fully knowledgeable in the rifle arena.

I like Boddington as well. I have read his books and all of them are interesting,especially the African subjects.
  Brian Pearce is another great author,especially regarding pistol subjects.
  Mike Venturino is another knowledgeable author,especially on most anything black powder or SAA related.

  John Barsness is another one of my favorites. I've spoken with John as few times and our opinions on several  hunting,rifle and reloading subjects are VERY similar. Great minds think alike I guess. LOL.

 Elmer Keith is probably my favorite though. I have read and reread his old Guns & Ammo articles many times over the years. A lot of what Elmer preached those many years ago are still re,evant even today.  I often wonder what he would think of the improved bullets we have today as well as the accurate factory rifles.
