75b SAO
« on: July 19, 2023, 07:13:50 PM »
Found a CZ 75B Single Action Only recently. Being a lefty, the ambidextrous safety was a selling point. Today was my first outing with it. One hundred rounds of Federal FMJ and no bobbles. No real surprise there but still a nice outcome.

I've always liked that gun. Good that you got one. Shoot it and enjoy it. :)
Colt 1911s, Browning Hi-Powers, other assorted noisemakers.

My youngest son got one in 9MM several years ago.  When we'd go to the range the other pistols would get a magazine shot through them and the rest of the session he'd just keep shooting the SAO.  I asked him why he didn't shoot his P07 more and he'd say, "Dad, you know I like shooting small groups."

I really like the way those look.  The different slide, the ambidextrous safeties.  Sharp looking pistols.  I sometimes think about converting my CS75B .40 to SAO, just haven't done it.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I've looked at the CZs in 40 S&W a few times but haven't ever purchased one. They of course also have the right-side safety lever. I'm simply not set up for the forty (actually I am as I'm set up for 10mm) and a forty would require even more magazines. I do have a stainless 75B and a transitional 85 both of which are lefty friendly as well, so I'm not left out entirely in the CZ pistol field. Today with the SAO was just a shakedown cruise. It shot the Federal ammo just fine but aside from tapping the rear sight to the left a little no other serious effort was made for grouping the pistol. I did do one stupid thing with it today though. For the first shot thru it I loaded a single round into the magazine and cambered it. Took a sight picture released the safety and pulled the trigger.  Nothing happened, as I'm standing there waiting to see if the live round is going to cook off and wondering what I've gotten myself into with this latest purchase I have an epiphany, you need to remove the dry firing "O" ring if you want the pistol to fire! Oddly enough once the "O" ring was removed the pistol ran just fine.

It's one of my favorite CZ frames. I have five of them and only one of them has the stock upper. The other four have TS uppers.

The Federal 115 grain FMJ ammo shoots great in my CZ 9MM pistols.  Used to be able to pick up the 100 round boxes at Walmart for around $18 each.  It always functioned and shot some great groups for me.

Redhemi, if the grips (Lok palm swells black with orange liner) look familiar there the ones I purchased off of you when you had the classified add a while ago. They look pretty good on this pistol.
The Federal ammo was on sale if you want to call it that at $13 per 50 rounds locally here. About the only thing I use to go to Wal Mart for was Federal and Winchester 525 round bulk pack 22 L.R. ammo at $7.98 a box. Nostalgic about Wal Mart I'm getting old!

They look good and I hope they serve you well. Yeah I miss Walmart ammo also well that is when I run out of because when they said they were dropping ammo I bought as much as my credit card could afford  ;D
