Strike Micro Threaded Comp - CIRCLE on my P-09
« on: August 13, 2023, 01:24:21 PM »
I bought my P-09 about 7.5 years ago. It was a suppressor ready model with standard sights. It was the only poly CZ in the store at the time, but the standard sights were no deal breaker as I didn't have any intention as using it with a suppressor. I did settle on an aftermarket thread protector as I liked it's look better than the OEM part.

Recently I saw micro compensators in a few YouTube videos and thought I'd try one out. It's barely larger than the thread protector and I really like the look. That is enough for me to leave it in place, but it does also seem functional (to a small degree). That's a seat of the pants feel thing for me as I didn't do any type of measured testing with it.
The Firearms blog did some of that here: https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2023/06/09/tfb-review-strike-threaded-barrel-micro-compensator/

Greg

Cool deal.  I'm running the HBI Micro Comp on my P-09 and P-07 and I like what they do.

Have you compared this Strike comp against the HBI version?  I'm curious if one works better than the other.

I have run the HBI mini comp on my P09 for a couple years now and really like it. Would like to hear how the Strike one is working for you as well.

Found this link to the Griffin vs. HBI, but nothing comparing Strike to HBI.  I figure the Griffin one is similar enough to the Strike one that it's still a worthwhile comparision.

I'll probably pick up a Strike Quad comp just to see if the "next level" of comp is worthwhile on my P-09.  Probably leave the HBI micro comp on my P-07 as that seems to work pretty well.

I have the Quad comp on my UnGlock build (SCT19 frame and Polymer80 slide) and the difference between being comped and non-comped is remarkable. I notice more of a different with the Quad comp than I did with the Herrington Arms comp on my P10C, but the SCT is significantly lighter than the CZ. I am going to get another one for my P07 after I get it back from the slide milling.

I have only ever used the HB. May have to give these other options a try.

Muzzle devices are pretty easy to tell what they should do just by looking at their design...

From the looks of it, Strike requires specific orientation/timing, so should do more to reduce muzzle flip than HBI or Griffin.

That's said it's probably a wash between Griffin (due to greater all around porting) and Strike with the former likely less recoil and the latter less muzzle flip (due to top and side porting) -- and both looking to be about the same size, although Strike may be slightly larger and if similar port area would give it an edge over Griffin, provided it's properly timed or doesn't lose timing/rotate during firing...

HBI is definitely larger than Griffin and looks to also be larger than Strike, so can capture a little more gases and direct more outwards before they exit the device...  So more recoil reduction than both most likely -- but the greater effect/larger muzzle devices are on pistols, the more likely they are to cause malfunctions...

That's why Griffin's sell is basically make use of threaded barrel and as low profile as possible and do so w/ extremely low likelihood of affecting reliability on/for CONCEALED CARRY guns -- micro carry comp is its name.  I think Strike is largely going after the same market with this device.

I only have experience w/ Griffin FWIW (and they offer both US and Euro threadings), and actually wasn't aware of HBI's offering -- but for the price, I think I might give it a go on a midsize pistol w/ the US 1/2x28 threading.
