Guardian Commander questions
« on: August 18, 2023, 06:49:22 PM »
Is the Guardian the same as Guardian Commander?  I saw a Guardian Commander for just over $2,000.00 but not sure if the price is reasonable?

I don't know what the commander is, but here's Guardians available for much less than 2K. https://www.gunengine.com/search?q=Dan+wesson+guardian&type=Guns

A Commander model in reference to a 1911 is typically a full size frame with a shorter barrel and slide normally @4.25 inches vs the normal 5 inch barrel.
I think the DW Guardian only comes in the 4.25in. length.

Thanks.  So much I don't know about guns, 1911s.

To my knowledge, the earlier post stating that the DW Guardian is a 4.25 barreled ("Commander" length) pistol and only is available in that length is correct.

I have owned one in .45 ACP for many years.  I sent it back to Dan Wesson about five years ago and had them replace the OEM front sight with a gold bead front sight and the OEM rear sight with a "ledge" rear sight similar to the ones on the Valor models.  It is an excellent pistol and I carry it quite often.

I wouldn't mind owning one in 9mm if I ran across one for the right price.

Well, I just couldn't stand it, I ordered one.  One of the retailers lowered their price by about $250.  It was very close to other retailers and I have used them.  Thanks to all for answering my questions.

I checked with one of my LGS and they were unable to get one through their suppliers.  But they are OK with being my FFL dealer.  I hope you get it soon.

Finally picked up my Guardian.  Also did a little shooting while I was there.  Love the way the gun shoots.  I'm pleased with this choice.  Thanks to all that answered my questions.  Guess I don't have enough posts to add photos.

Time for the 'old dog' to learn a new trick. It's thoroughly explained with page dumps and examples. I'm in my mid-70's and know what it's like.

If you have issues, then simply PM me. I'll be glad to walk you through it.

To put all the factors in your favor, use a computer with a big screen, NOT a stinkin' tiny screen cell phone.
