My P-07 NOW, after a few hiccups
« on: September 01, 2023, 11:11:23 PM »
So I bought a new P-07 last month.
Not a newcomer to CGW, as I fully Cajunized a PCR and a 97Bd. (even had them do the bushing work on the 97)
Those were some sweet shooting pistols, but they ultimately found new homes.
But the P-07-
grittiest trigger out of the box that I’ve ever felt. Just awful. Worst I have ever felt.
So I decide  to buy the CGW spring kit , extended firing pin and spring, and a .230 bearing( it’s what my factory roller was), and do the polishing of the other parts.
Put it back together and was underwhelmed.
So I figured what the heck. Basically ordered the rest of the PRO package à la cart, and reassembled it again.
Installed the Red sear spring, and the heavy Firing Pin Plunger lifter spring.
Was REALLY underwhelmed dry firing it, so I called and spoke with Jacob, and he suggested that I get the .220 roller because it would be  much better than  the larger one..
At this point, I was not hopeful.
So when reassembling THIS time, I  bent the trigger bar spring down a TINY bit  more. ( I had already bent it a little bit before), installed the  heavy, not the red sear spring, and the light plunger spring from the spring kit.
Well, I got it together today, and holy geez, this is one fine trigger now. ( I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised, using the heavier springs, but didn’t think it would make that much of a difference) I had even had a few times when testing the trigger reset ( before), that it felt like something was binding up..
So happy with this now…
I’m not sure why the roller made such a huge difference, but man, I’m happy now. Hopefully I’ll get to shoot it pretty soon..

Sounds good!  I'm glad you got it the way you want it.  I went through several iterations on my P-09/07 pistols before I found the combination that worked for me, which was pretty much everything you did.  Pistols have been fine ever since.

I read that P07/P09 triggers run from great to  "holy cow! this is an ugly trigger".

I've been pretty lucky with mine.  I just bought an old P07 DUTY in .40 that has a slightly heavier SA/DA trigger pull than the one I've been carrying for years.  The other day I let my wife shoot it.  She first shot a decent group at 10 yds. with some 180 grain hollow points and then she laid the pistol down and complained to me about her new M&P Equalizer's trigger.  She said she wished the Equalizer had a trigger as nice as the old P07.

One gun to the next, they can be different.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Yeah, I really was surprised at how bad the stock trigger was, after reading about others saying that theirs was good.
At least I got it running right now.
On my other pistols that I reworked ( forgot about my SP01 Tac), I put in the 85 trigger, which helped  a ton too, as I didn’t like the curve of the OEM triggers.  I’m good with the P-07s trigger, so I left it alone.
Can’t wait to shoot it!
M1, I wouldn’t mind having one of these in 40. Guess I’ll read up to see where to look for the bulges on the Duty’s. Might be able to find a good one for cheap.

I have two now (no, not selling either, needed one for a back up, since they're no longer making them).  The one I've had the longest is dated 2013.  The latest one is a 2010 made pistol.

The 2013 is my EDC and has been modified with a red dot and back up rear sight.  I shoot a pretty darn "snappy" load with a 135 grain Nosler hollow point on a compressed charge of Blue Dot powder.  People say a 180 grain hollow point .40 is "snappy" but they 135 grain load would scare the pants off them.  It's like shooting my old .357 magnum revolvers.  Loud, flashy and accurate.

This one's from 2014.  Before the red dot, I think.  Twelve yds. offhand the whole magazine.  The low hole is a mystery.  It felt good when it went bang and surprised me it wasn't with the other 11.  The low left hole was me getting lost in a big bumble bee hovering between me and the target.  I tried to guess where to hold to take out the bee but I missed.  Then I saw the hole in the paper and realized I'd further messed up the group.  Still.  Eleven all together at 12 yds.

It's my check gun.  When I'm at the range and having a bad day with a new pistol or working up some loads that aren't working out I pull the P07 out of the holster and shoot a 5 shot group to figure out if the bad day is the new gun/ammo or me.  Nine years later and it still shoots great.

This was a "check" group.  Just over 10 yds.

Maybe I just go lucky with the pistol, the bullet and the powder  That happens.
