The King… the CZ 75 PreB
« on: September 02, 2023, 09:47:42 PM »
Took a PreB to the range today and relearned just how easy they are to shoot.  I’m normally not great at 25 yards or 15 for that matter but darn I could stay on the 8” circle pretty darn well at 25 and no problem at 15.  Better than my Cajunized P01. Besides the barrel is much looser in the preB.  The DA is so nice - first shot of the day was DA and hit the 10 from 25 yards.  Just nice guns.

BTW: this one has the old PreB sights but with a notch in the middle for paint on the front.  My eyes aren’t great, but again these guns just hold ‘right’.

I picked this up yesterday. Advertized as being Stainless. It's not, I'm pretty sure it's an NP3 finish or something similar. It has an action job, trigger overtravel screw, the best slide fit I've ever seen and a fantastic trigger. The internal parts are silver in the same (AFAICT)finish the frame is in. I paid too much for it, but I'm a sucker for matte "Stainless".

Saw that one, the front sight blade - is it dovetailed into a tenon mount?

I still haven't shot it, but I've tried all my Meg-Gar "CZ-75" mags and they seem to work, but they are super tight. They aren't binding, just tight, They have to be pulled out with two fingers, they don't move at all when the release is pressed. My SAR CM9's mags don't work, they are too wide, and I haven't had the ambition to get some other mags out to see what they do. The factory numbered mag that came with it fits perfectly. It fits in the CM9 too, but wiggles. Dummy rounds seem to work fine in my CZ75 with the M-G mags. I really wish they would all (the manufacturers) wouldn't change magazines for no real reason. Kind of like MS and Windows.

They ARE nice guns! I need to take mine back out, and I will after I get my P09 sorted out.

No one knows WHY they switched to a slightly larger mag, but it COULD have been a deal with MG that drove it.  Its harder now.  Over the years, I built a small supply of mags that work.

IRONICALLY, the 18 rd SP01 mags work fine.

There is a thread here on how to open up the magwell to take other mags.  It is HIT OR MISS.  Trust me.

I found a M-G mag in my boxes of mags I've bought for no really good reason. that I had bought a long time ago, about 20 years ago, that seems to be exactly the same as the factory mag, it does drop on it's own. It's got some rust freckles on it, and I'm going to see if one of the followers I bought a few years ago will fit, as it looks pretty worn down. It does keep the slide back though. I have a bunch of CZ clones and so far, if any mags fit the 75, they are loose or really tight, the only one that's "right" is the one above. I think a trip to a couple of LGS's is in the future. I go by three different ones all the time. Maybe I'll get lucky. I need to control myself, it's going to be a tight month money wise...

I finally shot it, it's fantastic. The SA trigger is about 3 pounds, and the DA is a smooth 9.5, according to my gauge. I put 50 WWB and 50 of black talon hollow points, and all fired without drama. The thing is way more accurate than I am at this point, for sure. My one old friend who still shoots at Hickok 45 level shot it and said now he wants one, "just like yours" hint, but it's not going anywhere. About the only complaint I can think of is I don't like the way the safety works, but that's a total nitpick. Now to a couple of LGS's to find a mag that fits and hopefully ejects..
