cz pcr recoil springs
« on: September 06, 2023, 05:44:24 PM »
the factory recoil spring is a bit too heavy for me too put a rd into battery.  what different springs weights are available for my pcr.   i would like to move down one weight class to see how it goes, i'm afraid if I go too light , the slide won't return to full battery position.  and where can I find it.  thanks

Recoil springs are tuned to the gun by the load/cartridge you are using not to accomodate for hand strength or lack there of. Cajun Gun Works has various weight/power springs for the PCR but you should practice loading drills VS trying to lighten slide movement for comfort. If the gun ejects spent casing 6-8 ft. from the shooter with a firm hold on the pistol when firing then the recoil spring is as it should be.

If the slide is forward on an empty chamber with the hammer down you might try cocking the hammer before pulling the slide to the rear.  That can make it easier to pull the slide rearward as you're not trying to compress the recoil spring and the hammer spring at the same time if you've already cocked the hammer.

I've heard there are videos on you tube showing how to pull the slide to the rear easier if your hand/finger strength is making it an issue.

If none of that works there are companies that have designed and sell semi auto handguns for this issue and they really are easier to pull the slide rearward and still function shoot quite well.  Last year my wife (63 years old) told me she was having trouble pulling the slide on her Shield 9MM to the rear.  First we tried a small piece that replaced the cover on the rear of the slide and had a wide pair of projections on the sides for a better grip on the back of the slide but it didn't really help her.  I bought her an M&P Equalizer 9MM for Christmas and she has no trouble working the slide on that pistol.  The Equalizer looks like a striker fired pistol at first but has an internal hammer and single action trigger.  They're made in optic ready (OR) models so that makes it easier to put an optic on the slide if you also have trouble seeing the front sight clearly.  Something to think about if nothing you try overcomes the hand strength issues  The Equalizer also comes with an easy to use magazine loader in the box.  One each of 10 round, 12 round and 15 round 9MM magazines as well.

Good luck with your PCR.  I have the steel frame thumb safety CZ75 Compact pistols which are similar in size to your PCR.  They are nice pistols.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
