CZ 75 Trigger bar spring arms - even, uneven?
« on: October 27, 2023, 01:35:33 PM »
I just bought some CZ 75 trigger bar springs along and other spares to have on hand for my compacts. The trigger springs are perfectly symmetrical. Some say the right should be higher than the left. I'm al little confused because I started fiddling with this during a detail strip because the SA on my P-01 always felt bumpy/noisy - not gritty, which was resolved a little by lessening the tension. I have no other issues but now I'm curious as to others' opinions on this:

Should the left and right leg be the same height? And if there's issues (after knowing the arms are riding in the trigger bar grooves), you adjust from there? Can anyone please briefly outline the issues you may have from improperly tensioned trigger bar spring and the basic tension adjustments to resolve it?

Greatly appreciated if anyone has a few minutes. Thanks.

One side is "higher" than the other side.  Someone just posted a picture in another thread here a week or so ago.  Not sure, now what thread it was but I think I saved the picture they showed.  I need to find it.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Ran across a picture I took when I was working on a CZ75 Compact.  Looks like the left side of the spring was higher on this one.  They should be the same on a CZ75/85 as on the compact models.

Not sure what the effects of the spring not being bent like this could be.

Might have been me posting this?

FYI my issue caused by improper trigger bar spring tension was I was getting a false, early reset.

Thanks for the replies. I saw that photo in my travels with the higher left arm. The PDF (linked above by Born2vette) is by CGW. I also saw a GCW video that shows similar 'uneven' tensions and he says that setting works best after their pro kit but not sure about stock. On the contrary, I read others say they should be even tension.

I followed CGW settings (in attempts to smooth out my SA trigger by easing the tension on the trigger bar side with the rougher groove) but it caused the trigger bar to move from side to side at the beginning of the trigger pull and then going back down, JUST before trigger rest, I felt in the trigger a "catch" or "notch". So I evened the tension more which helped.

This is what I THINK I know so far and please someone correct me if I'm wrong:
More than one reset  -  caused by too much tension
DA hammer dropping before fully cocked - caused by not enough tension.

But what's the reason for the uneven settings? And others talk about pulling the springs in towards the center of the frame. That's over my head and I'm interested in learning about it. Thanks again.

I'm working off memory, but I had to adjust that spring because of a trigger return drag. The offset corrected my problem, whatever it was back then...lol.

I wonder if decreasing or increasing the tension would reduce the drag? Maybe increasing the tension would help bring the trigger back to rest.
