P10S Question, Czech Made
« on: November 14, 2023, 09:00:44 AM »
I recently purchased a new P10S from LGS. The owner said he had the pistol for a little while. The date on the label on the case show February of 2020. The pistol is stamped as made in Czech Republic. Most of the YouTube videos show the P10S pistols as being U.S. made. How common is it to find these as Czech made? Other than the stamping on the pistol, are there any differences between U.S. made pistols? I assume all parts are interchangeable.

FYI: The front of the case is embossed in large letters CZ, not CZ USA.

Thanks,
Quibbley

The Czech made ones are extremely common and will only become more so. They were produced in the US for a number of years, but in a realignment of production capacities they are all UB manufactured now with the exception of a few models (mainly the M and Comp Ready, though there are other exceptions). The only pretty consistent variation in US vs Czech made models was the sights, and the US models had the better ones.

P10S Question, Czech Made

I think the ones made in the USA were around only for a year or two and now all the new stock appear to be made in Uhersky Brod again since the past year or so. The USA made ones are very “clean”…. they have none of the year/proof marks as required in the Czech Republic plus one oddity. I’m not sure it applies to all USA made P-10S but the 2021 slides have seven front slide serrations versus the six on all other production.

Thanks everyone. Your replies are very helpful and appreciated. I am traveling and won't be back home until this weekend. I will count the slide serrations when I get home. I am a little disappointed with the sights. The model I got has night sights but these are phosphorous and not tritium sights. No big deal though. If it bothers me too much, I will have tritium sights installed. Also, I don’t typically care for striker fired pistols but something about this pistol really speaks to me. I don't know if it’s how it fits my hand or something else. It has the nicest trigger for a striker fired pistol that I have come across. I find myself really looking forward to getting this to the range.

From what I understand the US models are the P10s guns being made more.  They are all optics ready.  The Czech models are being cleared out and I doubt they will be produced anymore.  That’s my understanding.  SHRUGS

I see. That makes sense. The slide on mine is not cut for an optic.

By the way, my P 10S is also the Czech made version. I preferred it over the US made models. I personally like the markings on the slide and I am not an optics person, so it just made sense for me.

Also, just to add a bit more information. The US models are being produced in Kansas City, Kansas. This manufacturing plant opened up a couple of years back. So, that is why there will continue to be US made models and I doubt the Czech models will be produced anymore. It makes sense for all of the new P 10S guns to be optics ready since you can either leave the plate on, or add optics.

That is not the case. My early reply summed it up. It's the US models that are being replaced by Czech made models.

So they opened a Manufacturing facility in Kansas City only to close it less than two years later so they can import the Czech models?  Alright…..  I guess you know.  Thanks

I’m not saying I don’t believe you.  I guess I just don’t understand what’s going on then.

I’m actually in Kansas City at the moment but I’m leaving on Saturday. I wished I had time to go by the factory. I don’t know if they give tours like the Harley Davidson plant use to do before it closed or if there’s a factory store.

I too like the Czech stampings.

It's not that mysterious. Some stuff is made in the US and some in Czech Republic. What's made where changes from time to time based on numerous factors.

No tours. Nothing exciting to see as it's mostly warehouse with office and technical space. Though I know "exciting" is subjective. :)
