Is polishing necessary when installing a pro kit?
« on: November 14, 2023, 11:46:57 AM »
Hi all! New member here. I am debating rather than trading away my P-01 and SP-01 for a wilson combat edcx9, ordering the pro kit and installing myself instead. My only issue is that I am not comfortable polishing the internals. Is this necessary? How big of a difference does it make? Thanks!

I installed the Cajun Pro Kit on all my CZ's but did not polish the internals. After so many rounds the gun will have self polished where it needs it IMO.

Thanks! How big of a difference was there? My p-01 has already broken in nicely.

If your P01 is already broke in there’s no need for polishing IMO. Just install the kit.

Polishing is essentially speeding up the break-in process.  If yours is already broken in and smooth, then there's no need.

I alaways strip and polish my cz’s before adding any parts. Then upgrade as needed. Which is either a SAO build or pro package .😎

Is there still a need for the pro package in that case? Does it add reliability/longevity to the parts you have to replace?

The only part that adds reliability/longevity is the firing pin retaining pin.  The stock pin can break after too many dry fires.

The pro kit makes the gun more enjoyable to shoot.  For example, the stock trigger gave me trigger bite.  CGW's trigger feels much nicer.  The springs reduced the double action pull weight and the hammer makes it feel extra crisp.  None of these are critical for reliability.

I'm with Lock-n-Load on this. I always strip, clean, and polish before any other work. It really is easy and not as time consuming as you would think. I got a P-09 from a member here with the Pro package installed, but not polished. 30 minutes to strip and polish. It took 1lb off the double action and 1/2 lb off the single. It made it a much more enjoyable gun right from the start. Lots of great youtube videos as a guide. Good shooting.

If I have the gun disassembled to fit new parts in it, I also clean and polish all parts before it's all put back together.

I agree with polishing while apart.  Not any of the new CGW parts, but the factory parts that should be polished include the trigger bar, hammer strut, and firing pin plunger block.  There are a few other contact points, but these are the ones that have made the biggest difference on my CZ 75 variants. There are a lot of good on line resources available.  Definitely look at several different you tube videos before you do any polishing.

Necessary?  No. It'll polish itself up eventually.  You really wanna spend the $  for the parts, install them, then have to shoot another case or 6 of ammo inorder to fully enjoy the benefits?

i installed Mcarbo kits on several of my P07s and p01s. the polishing is just using a cotton buffer on a dremel and some flitz. iimho, t would be difficult to go overboard and over polish. and i agree if your handgun is already broken in the polishing might not be necessary.
