My Next Project
« on: December 02, 2023, 10:31:18 AM »
That 1911 I built turned out so well that I decided to do another! Besides, I have to justify some of the tools I needed to do the first one. Got another "gun-in-a-bag", lol. This one is a gently used Colt 1991a1 Commander. Yes, it's a series 80 slide, but I'll be putting it on a 70 frame, so all that nonsense will go away. It wasn't stored real well, so it's going to take more work, like a strip and rust blue. The frame is incoming, but I doubt I'll have time to do anything with it until after the holidays.

Nice little project for the cold weather months.  If I had two working hands I’d be looking for something like that also.  Good luck, and I hope this turns out great for you.

Welp, this one is done. Decided to rust blue the slide and small parts. The frame is finished in semi-gloss Duracoat. Now all I have to do is get it to the range and see how she shoots!

Nice looking 1911.

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

The parts in the first photo were from Gunbusters - the company that "destroys" firearms for law enforcement agencies at no charge. They have a store on GB where they sell the leftover parts. It's rather interesting to peruse.

I did put in an optimized EGW sear and a Wilson Combat spring kit though.

I've seen some pictures of your very nice grips. Checkering too, that takes it to a whole new level.

I had not checked out the GB store for gunbusters, thanks for that heads up.

Nice work by the way, to say the least.
