Pre-b ring hammer
« on: December 08, 2023, 02:16:57 PM »
Forgive if this question has been asked but no luck on a search. Will the older style pre-b ring hammers from the transitional era fit in a current production safety 75B model? Thx!

Hello dbarn, the interchangeably question has been asked but unfortunately the best answer is "maybe". Changes were made over time to part dimensions, including the hammers, and not always at the same time at each factory. I'm curious why your B doesn't already have a ring hammer and why your specifically be looking to replace it with a transitional's. I'm guessing it's a either retro model or you somehow damaged your hammer and just happen to have access to a transitional hammer. I just measured my specific transitional if it helps. 5.8mm width at the ring(which is likely irrelevant) and 8mm width in the frame. I couldn't say with certainty that they will all be the same. Mines an early 1992 "Made in Czechoslovakia" transitional from one factory. Another factory/year might be different. Wish I could be of more help.

Thank you so much for your answer. I’ll take a maybe over a no. I found a pre-b disconnector with the original hammer attached. I was able to purchase both for what a pre-b disconnector would cost alone. My currently produced compact already has the forged pre-b sear cage and sear. Amazed at the smooth operation and now having the safety work only in the full cock position as it should be. So the hammer will be a bonus and hoping it may work. It now has the current produced ring hammer and factory disconnector.

Oh I see, doing a custom job on it. That sounds like a fun project, and I mean that seriously. I love tinkering with my stuff. I hope it all fits and functions for ya. Good luck.
