M*CARBO
« on: December 09, 2023, 11:08:12 PM »
New here to CZ but not pistols. I am getting ready to do some upgraded on my new to me SP01 Tactical. I did a search
and along with Cajun Gun Works, M*CARBO was also an option. Anyone bought from them or is it better off to use CGW's?
TIA Greg

Have done 2 mcarbo spring replacements and over 12 CGW upgrades. CGW = CZ custom > Mcarbo. I would do in that order upgrades based on availability.

I've done three trigger spring kits from M*CARBO. 75B, P-01, and 97B. Great way to understand how the internals work together. Good results. I did do some machine marks removal and general polishing on certain moving parts I'm sure contributed to the results.

Even if later you decide to go with a self-installed CGW kit, the experience you gain rather inexpensively from M*CARBO is well worth it.

So far, I've not found the need to go with a CGW kit as I'm satisfied with what I got with the M*CARBO. Trigger pull reductions in DA/SA between 35-45%. Polishing made a difference too.

I installed four Mcarbo 75 kits with excellent results and proven longevity. I'm sure CGW kits are fine, but you will spend a lot more for their upgrades for similar results.

Actually the spring kits from both are similarly priced and mr.carbo doesn't offer near the additional parts that CGW offers such as hammers, triggers, sears, firing pins not to mention complete kit packages. I'm sure if all a person wants are spring upgrades the carbo stuff is just fine but if you want more and a higher level of performance CGW is still the way to fly.

I'm sure CGW packages are good if you require them. If you don't, you save a couple hundred bucks. Not everyone requires them to be satisfied with their CZs.

I would say that a 'higher level of performance' is more shooter than parts.

i have done about 10 Mcarbo kits on CZs, Sigs and Hks. they work very well and do what they are advertised to do. the Mcarbo videos are a little hot or miss. sometimes i wonder if they are glossing quickly over steps in the hopes that you will just send your firearm in and pay the $90 or so to have them do it. watch their videos a couple of times before you commit. all in all i have had very positive results.

As the old adage goes speed and performance cost money "how fast can you afford to go ?"

I've only used the M*CARBO videos on CZs and didn't have any problems. Certainly, there are several points where it would be helpful to know whether the hammer should be down or back. However, without seeing these videos, I'd be lost watching the CGW videos. There's not a close-up in the bunch and that's where the M*CARBO videos shine as these are more detailed and informed.

If you do go with CGW, watch the M*CARBO videos first.

Very interesting. I've never needed a video to work on my CZ's. What are these videos you speak of?

Just an FYI, I haven't used MCarbo parts.

I have used plenty of CGW and CZ Custom parts.

The MCarbo kit consists of:

1 - Custom Lighter CZ 75 Hammer Spring (13.5lb)
1 - Custom Lighter CZ 75 Firing Pin Spring
1 - Custom Lighter CZ 75 Firing Pin Block Spring
1 - Custom Lighter CZ 75 Sear Spring
1 - Custom Lighter CZ 75 Trigger Return Spring
1 - Heavy Duty Firing Pin Retaining Pin
1 - Installation Assembly Tool

Cost = $43

What the MCarbo kit is missing is an extended firing pin.  This will ensure reliable ignition for all primer types.

CGW Price for similar parts (sans the assembly tool):  $44
CZ Custom price for similar parts (sans the assembly tool): $35

The real question is what do you want to improve upon?  Are you just after lightening the trigger pull weight or do you want to do more?  CZ Custom and CGW offer parts that improve the feel and function over just lightening the pull weight.

Cheers,
Toby

M*CARBO videos.  Close-ups -  not just above a workbench where details are obscure.

Well I was being facetious but drive on anyway. I know those vids are great for those who really need them.
