CZ75 1977 serial 10379
I will pick up my Shortrail in a couple of weeks from the dealer. It's an ex service pistol which was always holstered and rarely shot, then went to a collection from the 80s till now.
I've shot it, and it will be used for classic and police competitions, and have two questions that I would like to ask, as I won't have it in my hands for a while and want to be prepared
1) the front sight post was filed down in a "stepped" fashion, I'm not sure if its clear in the image, but thats how it is, three small steps down from the top of the sight. The thing is a tack driver, it puts them and groups them where its told. I would guess this was done by the original owner maybe to eliminate reflection? Should I even consider changing it, and indeed, is that possible? how are they fixed? Its also a case of if it aint broke dont fix it, again, it shoots great, but I would like in the future to bring it back to factory appearance
2) for competitions here (service, police EPP, military) they often state the hammer must have the ability for a "half cock". Which this does not. If I can ask, is anyone aware if the "retro" style hammers that are available will fit and work well in this model? I need that half cock, and want to keep the original look. - for example -
https://www.atlas-shooting.de/waffenteile/tuning-ersatzteile/cz/custom-hammer-original-hammer/4705/cz-custom-hammer-sa/da-retro-cz75 - I'm in The Netherlands so ordering from the US isn't a possibility.
The link above is to one with serrations which I like. Unfortunately for many parts, stores are all too quick to say "oh yes these are for every 75 model" - when I'm not sure if that will always hold true for the short rail?
I own and shoot a 2004 CZ 75 SA (non B) so I'm already used to working on and changing parts
Many thanks!
