I've actually considered getting one.  Was it easy to request one or did you have a condition that caused the doctor to order one?

About 9 years ago I had zero symptoms. My family doctor said the scan was very inexpensive, and basically... If they don't find anything you're out ~$125. But if they do find something... 1)  insurance pays for it, and 2) then you can start treatments and add some time to your life.

I couldn't argue with the logic. Filling out the paperwork took longer than the scan. They discovered a 40% blockage. I started seeing a cardiologist and placed on a maintenance dose of statins.

When I had my "event", 8 years worth of cardiology records (several EKG's, sonograms, 2 stress tests, etc) were all accessible to the hospital. So I was wheeled directly from the ambulance right into the stint lab. I was getting a stint 45 min after my attack.

Asked for one from my primary care phys but don't even know if that was necessary. Many insurances don't cover.  Mine was $200 out of pocket and I have since found a hospital in Athens, GA (St Mary's) that will do them for $100. I honestly don't understand why this isn't an automatic part of preventive healthcare for anyone 50+? Cheap and quite literally can be life saving.

Procedure itself took less than 5 minutes.

As someone who has had a ruptured widow maker (abdominal aorta) and a perforated thoracic aorta (4 cardio surgeons 12 hours to fix) Definitely worth getting it checked out.  Mine where no symptoms until almost dying (4% chance of living through either surgery) do it.
When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

WOW!! larryflew you don't ever need to buy another lottery ticket. You already won! Man you and Wobbly are scaring the crud outta me. Maybe I need more life insurance! BTW if any of y'all sell life insurance, please don't call.  :P I spend all my spare on guns. My wife can sell those if I drop. Kinda like life insurance I can play with til I'm gone.

Best advice for a healthy heart is don't eat processed food, exercise daily,   and last but not least is DO NOT get the clot shot.    It can give you long rubbery white elasticated things that block your arteries.
