Decockers- who likes them? ( especially 75 BD or 75b omega)
« on: February 02, 2024, 09:20:37 PM »
Most of my hammer fired CZs are decockers( or set as decockers): SP01T, PCR, P09, P01 Omega.  I also have a 75B stainless that I also enjoy, but I prefer decockers.

Primary reason is I shoot competitions ( IDPA and USPSA) where in SSP or production the hammer must be down or decocked as the start condition.  I acknowledge you can manually lower the hammer & many do this, but I often compete in cold wet weather making that maneuver less secure ( for me).

So am curious, who else here enjoys decockers, especially a 75BD or recent Omega?  While I have a SP01T am desiring a BD or omega to add to my CZ collection, as I prefer the clean lines of the 75 over the SP01.

All of my cz pistols are decocker , unless there isn't a decocker version available.

I have the P-01 Omega. I wish all my CZs were Omegas from the 75B to the 97B. Easy to work on and improve the trigger pull.

My first decocker was a CZ52 (it worked well). Then Makarovs.

I'll take a decocker on a DA/SA over a safety anytime.

I prefer the standard CZ action with a decocker. I do have some manual safety versions but the decocker is my favorite. My P-07 has the decocker installed and it's a great gun but the Omega for me just does not compare to the original action design.

Most of my training was on Sigs so decocker was the obvious choice for me when I switched to CZ.

I also shoot competitions and flicking that lever with my thumb is the easy button. No worries about that hammer slipping.

I like my decockers.  For the past few years, I've been running P10s for competition guns (Carry Optics Div) but still occasionally bring out the SP01 Tactical to play in Production. Maybe with Production going to 15 rounds, I may bring it out more often.

I have a number of CZ's and up until I acquired my first TSO in 2018 they were all decockers.  I have been shooting competitively with the TSO and now Accushadow 2 for 6+yrs.  The TSO's run locked-n-cocked but the Accu2 I have to manually lower the hammer.  I've been stating this for years, why on earth does the Shadow 2 not come with a decocker?  It is a purpose built gun for competition and the rules state you have to manually lower the hammer fully (IPSC or USPSA).  If it came with a decocker, you get an advantage as you can decock it which only lowers the hammer to only the half cock notch.

Before I purchased the Accu2, I was contemplating building a SP01 Tactical for Carry optics.  I actually had settled on that path forward when I ran across a Accu2 priced at/below a standard S2.  It made my decision for me as I couldn't pass it up.

CZ if you are listening, build a Shadow 3 Orange decocker!!!

Cheers,
Toby

My next one will have a decocker. The only CZ I currently have is a sao.  Would be awesome if they did a shadow with the feature,  bit I'm sure they have a very good reason for not doing it.

After owning a 75B for some time, the Omega decocker took a little getting used to, however I think it's an improvement over the original design.

Well, I'll just state that the only other pistol that I would like to own is a 75 BD in .40 S&W

I feel like I'm getting ripped off with a gun that has only a decocker. With a safety, I can carry cocked and locked, or just lower the hammer myself. Dont have that choice with a decocker.

That's true, but my own perspective is that, no matter what, I can point and shoot without thinking about the condition of the gun. I carried a 1911 cocked with the safety on for quite a while and have come to prefer decockers for potentially stressful/panicky situations.
