P-01 Recoil Spring Guide Rods?
« on: February 08, 2024, 04:46:09 PM »
I lost my recoil spring guide rod when it rocketed into space on disassembly of my new ‘22 vintage OD GREEN P-01. Looked on line for a OEM plastic replacement, but couldn’t find any in stock anywhere. However, there are a plethora of aftermarket steel replacements from various custom parts houses.

Now the OEM plastic guide rod on my old reliable ‘07 P-01 has worked fine for years, no reliability issues whatsoever. However, I’ve had reliability issues with other pistols in the past when switching from the OEM plastic guide rod to custom steel guide rods.

So, from a reliability stand point, which are the better aftermarket steel guide rods for the P-01?

Thanks!

This horse continues to be beaten to a pulp. There must be 30 threads regarding this in the archives. I like metal and all my CZ's have metal guide rods. My oldest PCR has had a steel guide rod in it almost from day one. That gun has 31,000 rounds fired and it continues to function perfectly. No adverse wear and no issues of any kind.
I put metal guide rods in any pistol I plan on keeping if they don't already have one. Sigs, Berettas so on.
If you must have a polymer guide rod CZ-Custom has the full length version in stock. The only difference in the compact and full size is the length. You could cut it down to fit.

So would you recommend any particular brand / model of steel guide rod for the P-01?

Any of the parts from CZ-Custom, CZ-USA, or Cajun Gun Works will be top quality items. I have CGW's guide rods in 4 of my CZ's and they are performing just fine. The one in my oldest PCR came from Steve Bedair 16 years ago and at that time he was the only one making such a part for CZ's. Sadly he passed on.

Thanks for that info!!

BTW, I searched the parts finder on the CZ USA Webstore and got only one example for the P-01 that said “does not fit P-01 recoil spring” — WTF? Typical of COLT-cz’s parts & customer service these days.

So will probably buy from CGW or CZC.

Food for thought, the new Shadow 2 compact which has an alloy frame comes with a metal guide rod.

I was just cruising around Ebay:

I wonder if those'll work with factory recoil springs?

----------------

Compact poly guide rod is here (SKU 11167): https://czcustom.com/cz75-compact-p01-poly-guide-rod.html

A couple years ago, I ordered (SKU 10291) poly guide rods for my PCR & P01 which are same size as factories. https://czcustom.com/cz-parts-all/cz-guide-rods/p01-pcr-compact-guide-rods/cz-75-compact-ts-polymer-guide-rod.html  My invoice, says "SKU 10291 CZ 75 Compact Polymer Guide Rod Factory" but now it's "CZ Tactical Sport Polymer Guide Rod".   ???
