Range day, 02/16/24

The wife and I took 3 M&P pistols (I had my P07 IWB/right side, but didn't feel the need to pull it out and shoot it) and an AR15 to the range.

Sighted in a new optic on the AR15.  Got lucky, the 55 grain FMJ ammo hit right were I wanted to at 25 yds. so I put it back in the case.  Had some initial issues with a "brass catcher" I got for Christmas.  The brass was bouncing back into the area the bolt left open when it moved to the rear and hanging up the works when the bolt tried to feed/chamber the next round.  First two rounds did this so I removed the brass catcher and moved on with out.

Then I shot a new (to me) and funny looking M&P 1.0 sub compact .40  M&P 1.0 sub compact .40's are an exact fit for 10 rounds in the magazine.  It will need to go off for slide milling and, if possible, a 407K Holosun.  Prepare your eyes.  I've seen links to old reviews that say S&W only made a limited number of these back in 2014.  I was originally going to do something with it but figured at leave it as is.  I have ordered a second sub compact sized .40 S&W slide for it so I don't damage the original slide when it's milled for the dot optic.

Not my favorite trigger up there at 6&1/2 lbs. or so.  My progressive lenses and the iron sights fought with each other and about gave me a headache the whole time I was shooting it.  Seemed to take forever to get the front sight clear and my head was cocked back at an unnatural and uncomfortable angle for each shot.

Best group from two different brands of ammo, both 180 grain.  Sure hoping some trigger work/springs and the dot optic help me out.

Five shots, 10 yds. AAC 180 grain FMJ.  My other M&Ps do very well with Winchester 180 grain hollow points (which my P07 doesn't like at all) but I didn't get a nicer group with them with this pistol as fired today.

I also wanted to shoot the 2.0 .40 S&W PC 4&1/4" gun I bought last year.  It does pretty well with the Win. 180 grain hollow points.

This one was 6 rounds at 10 yds.  I shot 5, had the miniature smiley face and shot #6 trying to get an "eye" above the smiley face.  But it went into the smile so I cut my losses and gave up instead of making a nice 6 shot group a worse 7 or 8 shot group.  Maybe I should have pulled the P07 .40 out and shot a five shot group with it but I was kind of afraid it might disappoint me (with some contribution from me of course.)

My wife had the best day she's had so far with that M&P Equalizer 9MM.  Mix of Winchester 115 grain NATO and Federal 115 grain FMJ.  Her best group for 10 shots at 10 yds with the Federal 115 grain FMJ made me and the 1.0 .40 look pretty bad.  She had zero issues with that grip safety and shot it well.  Just for info.  This time I stayed on a chair back behind the firing line vs. standing there looking over her shoulder and "coaching" her not to do some of the things she does.  I've seen some pretty big smiles from her ever since we left the range for the drive home.

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
