Thursday with the P-10C, doesn't get any better than this! video
« on: February 23, 2024, 03:08:32 PM »
I've had several good weeks with three different pistols now.  Thursday was a good day after the warmup with the P-10C on Tuesday.  Here is a three minute video...

https://youtu.be/89JRaoc7OfM

I am limiting myself to around 40 rounds per range visit at 100 yards these days.  My eyesight gets strained and I release to many bad shots after 30 rounds or so, regardless of which pistol or which sight.  I know it is mental but I just tend to get sloppy after a while.  I've tried to shoot 60 per trip over the last year or so, and it is just too much, and it isn't getting any easier.  I could go back to 25 yards or over to the pistol range with the carry pistol and carry on ok but not more strain at 100 yards.

I have been very pleasantly surprised at how well the P-10C shoots now with the used Primary Machine barrel from Wobbly's estate sale.  It seems to be a perfect fit in my early run P-10C compared to a sloppy fit of the factory barrel which made it a dog without some shimming.

Next week I am going to shoot the P-10F or the MTR or the Savage .308 rifle or a Kart barrelled 1911.  Maybe.   Most likely the P-10F since my skill level seems to be peaking about now.

Well, I shot the P-10F on Tuesday, first time since mid-December.  The trigger is so different from my S and C frame P-10 pistols that I struggled with it.  I need to do some more work on it, to smooth it out a little more.  The C frame has the best trigger pull but the S is just fine also.  The C has the most rounds since it is the oldest of the three.

So, I will go back to the P-10C for Thursday and then take some video from Tuesday and include it with the Thursday P-10C results.  Might be interesting to see what difference the trigger feel makes.

Note that the overall results from the F weren't bad at all, it was just hard for me to settle down since I was not sure when the gun was going to go off, and I threw a few shots a little wide.  I still had two good 5 shot groups of less than 6" out of 20 on the second target.  But I had to settle down a little after feeling once again how different the F trigger was compared to the other pistols I had shot recently.  When I got home I checked my notes from December and I had noted then that the trigger feel was substantially different from the S, but I didn't do anything about it at the time.  I think I was having too much fun with the other pistols to bother.

Joe, I think most of us do that.  Priorities.  We all have them.  We all have our ways of dealing with them.  I know I tend to push the stuff I don't enjoy, or will take too much time off and do the quicker easy ones first.

I've been wanting to shoot some of the Winchester 124 grain NATO ammo through an older 1.0 M&P 5" PC gun for months.  I just never seem to get around to it.  That ammo is the best stuff I've found for shooting smaller groups in the 2.0 5" FDE 9MM and it shoots good in my Shield Plus and the Equalizer.  I just find myself going to the range and leaving the 1.0 9MM in the safe while I shoot other guns (mostly the .40's).  One day I will get the old 1.0 to the range again.

Then again, I picked up a 1.0 .40 SC (10 rounds filled to the top of the magazine) just in case.  Slide going out for a Holosun milling/mounting and then I'll be working wth it for a bit, just in case.  Priorities.  Maybe I need to learn to use my retirement time more effectively. ;D
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Wind and cold today, but I shot the P-10C again.  I just like the trigger in this one and in the P-10S.  This went well, at least for the first 10 rounds.

Some folks started showing up so I was a little too distracted for the second target, so no need to show that!

Just good to get out, even for 40 rounds, on a cold and dreary day.  Gun is fine, ammo is fine, range is fine.  Shooter needs a little more discipline on days when there are other good folks around.
