bobbing pcr hammer
« on: February 25, 2024, 07:43:06 PM »

Hello, I haven't found any pictures or posts on actually bobbing a hammer on a CZ pcr. I also couldn't find one for sale. I went ahead and did it myself. I know this isnt for everyone. I used a cgw race hammer, it has a good profile for doing this alteration. I put it in a vice, and used a dremel to cut and sand the spur. I then rubbed it on a 600 grit stone to smooth the profile and edges. I degreased the hammer and used rustoleum grill paint and bake cured the hammer. I am aware i destroyed the DLC coating on the back of the hammer. Down the road i may have it professionally re-coated. The paint actually feels quite durable and matches the cz coating perfectly. It is much more comfortable to carry now, and was pretty simple. It is also still fairly easy to cock from the decocked position. Hopefully this helps anyone else that feels the need to do this. I can give another update after several hundered rounds.

Any issues with ignition?  I was wondering if the lighter hammer would cause light strikes.

Otherwise it looks good!  Congrats.

Cheers,
Toby

Looks similar to the SAO hammer on my old Tactical Sport.

The hammer is lighter.  It should also move faster/sooner when the sear releases it to smack that firing pin.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Thanks wobbly

I'll report back with any issues after a good amount of rounds down range.

200 rounds. Both double action and single action. No light primer strikes. Rust-Oleum grill paint hung on great too lol. I'm using a 15 lb hammer spring and cgw extended firing pin with the lighter spring as well.

I bobbed the hammer(CGW) on my Rami D, shot it a bunch and never had any issues with ignition. I ended up replacing it with a CZC Comp hammer and can't really tell a difference when carrying.
