Pistol display stands
« on: March 02, 2024, 07:36:30 PM »
Found this CZ pistol display stand supplier and bought (and promptly received) a basic magwell mount (https://tacticalforceusa.com/products/cz-stand?_pos=4&_fid=5a8724435&_ss=c) and a bore mount with clearance for light (https://tacticalforceusa.com/products/desktop-barrel-mount?_pos=1&_fid=5a8724435&_ss=c).  Very nice product (fit and finish), well priced.  Also has versions with slots for mags - https://tacticalforceusa.com/collections/stand?filter.v.price.gte=&filter.v.price.lte=&filter.p.m.custom.firearm=CZ&sort_by=best-selling

Looks great and it's not a bad price.

Just out of curiosity, since this stands the pistol upright, how stable is it? It seems to me it would be awfully top heavy and prone to tipping over.

Looks great and it's not a bad price.

Just out of curiosity, since this stands the pistol upright, how stable is it? It seems to me it would be awfully top heavy and prone to tipping over.

Just tried it again before posting and there was no issue whatsoever for either stand using my SP-01 and light ...and empty mag (not tried with a full mag).  If will not fall over on its own and will take nudges in all directions without falling over.  [The bases are 2 3/4 wide.]  The magwell-mount version has the shortest base and, if you tilted it forward quite a bit, it might fall.  But that would be totally intentional.  Maybe if there was a significant earthquake, and the surface it was sitting on moved around a bunch ...

BTW, the magwell-mount version is marketed as a display stand. The bore-mounted one, however, notes, "Ready-Stand mount for easy draw anywhere! Your firearm can be mounted with the magazine inserted and ready for use at any moment. Great for tactical or decorative use."  I can certainly imagine someone grabbing at it and it coming up with the stand coming up hanging out the pistol.  Also, the rod is long enough that you'd need to be mindful to pull the pistol back and away, not just grab-slapping it.  In any case, my intent is display.  Were I to use it as a "ready-stand", I'd run a 3-4 1 1/2" screws thru it and into a fixed surface ...but still pull back and away (to avoid fighting the stand while drawing).

I'm sorry, but the angle on the single stand is just plain wrong, which would drive me crazy.
As for their "engineering" that they boast, there's a plethora of free .stl files on the ol' interwebs that anyone with a 3d printer can grab for free, like this one, that's been out there for 5 years.

Thanks for your comment.  They are both "single stands", to which one are you referring?  Wrong how, esthetic, application, or?

Bottom line for me is they are commercially-available products at a reasonable price.

BTW, the ones I linked surely do not have the smoothness and gloss of what you linked or a CZ-logo option.  I would have been interested in those features in what I bought.  Know of a commercial source without the mag pockets?  Thanks.

As far as the designs go, the styles that insert into the magazine opening are what I'm referring to. You'll note that the bottom of the grip sits flat on the base, which makes the gun point upwards. Aesthetically, the top of the slide should be parallel with the base. That's what would drive me nuts. Too many years in the product design and engineering world, I guess.

If they suit your needs and you are happy with them, then that's great! If they can make money selling those items, then good on them. I won't fault anyone for making money. It's their "engineering" claims that I find suspect. As for commercially available with the logo, you'd have to talk to CZ about that. If you have a friend with a 3d printer, ask them to download the free files and print you up some! I've done a couple of the stands I linked to, and they printed quite well.
