Tactical Sport Orange Trigger Pin Replacement
« on: March 04, 2024, 10:36:37 AM »
Not sure if this is the right place for this question or not, but we will see.  I jumped off the roof and bought a really nice used Tactical Sport Orange original version pistol.  I haven't shot it yet but I will before I do anything to this pistol, but at first blush I don't like the polymer trigger blade at all.  I MAY install a straight metal trigger blade after I shoot the pistol a few times.  I noticed that this trigger is retained in the frame differently than either of my two Shadows which have a spring that surrounds the trigger pin and allows the use of a reusable "floating" replacement trigger pin.  The way I see the pin on the TSO that option won't work if one removes the OEM pin as there is no spring to lock the new pin in place.

I looked in a number of places for an answer on this matter and the only real information I found was a You Tube video where the poster replaced a trigger blade on a TSO and used Loctite to hold the new replacement trigger pin in.  While this may work for a while, I somehow don't quite believe it to be a long time repair.  So are there any other solutions or trigger pin installation procedures that I am missing or unaware of or is Loctite the answer?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

I have been running the CGW floating trigger pins in my TSO's for years.  Yes the protocol to install is to loctite them in place.  I never had any issues doing that per the CGW instructions.  There is little to no force that would initiate the pin to move so there is little risk.  Originally I was concerned that solvents used cleaning would break down the loctite, I had no issues and it held.

I have subsequently designed my own triggers and they hold the floating trigger pin (slightly undersized pivot holes).  So the floating pin is held on the trigger and the pin once again floats in the frame.

Cheers,
Toby

Thanks for the info Toby.  Are your triggers for sale anywhere?  I get the fact your trigger pins are held in place by the trigger blade itself, but aren't the pins wider on the outside and narrow on the inside?  How would/do you push them into place?  Thanks again.

It's the same diameter as the frame hole where the trigger rides.  The small diameter section is inside the trigger.  In reality the TS floating Trigger Pin could be just a straight pin without the recess in the middle.

It's just an interference fit on the pin in my trigger, thus the pin is secured by the trigger.

I haven't offered any for sale.  I've thought about it but don't want the liability.

Cheers,
Toby

Some guys install a regular cz 75 trigger return spring to hold the floating pin in place.
Increases pull weight some but offers a better trigger reset.

Thanks Sevt_chevelle.  I was somewhat intrigued looking at my TSO and wondered if the Shadow 2 spring couldn't be installed versus the OEM TSO spring.  The recess is in the frame for the spring leg, but isn't being used for the TSO spring.
