CZ 75D Compact PCR
« on: March 10, 2024, 03:06:16 PM »
I have a brand new CZ 75D Compact PCR 9mm.  I have had the CGW spring kit installed by a qualified gunsmith.  The gun is so stiff I almost cannot rack the slide.  Also the pin to take down the gun for cleaning is so tight I cannot remove it.  Is this typical of a new CZ?  At the moment I am pretty discouraged about this gun because I really like the size and design. Any comments or tips would be appreciated.

I can't speak to spring stiffness as it sounds like you may have changed it from factory. I can say I don't find the factory ones any more difficult than other similar pistols. Though the CZ design gives you less room to grip than many other designs. Though it hasn't been an issue for me.

Regarding the take down pin, that is normal. They are very hard to push out without a tool. I usually just use the magazine baseplate as a mag is almost always handily around. Just push it with corner of that, or use something else.

The slides are stiff to rack. With pistol in right hand, I’ll place left hand over the slide a grasp. Make sure your fingers are not on the frame which makes it even more difficult. Then push with each hand pushing the frame away from you and the slide to the rear.

To remove my slide stop, I use the end of a plastic handled screwdriver to tap the slide stop out aways. I have screwdriver end taped over to lift the slide stop enough in order to lift it out. The tape protects the finish.

That’s the way I do it and I hope that helps. You will love your PCR.

Welcome to the forum.  For me a Sharpie pen is perfect tool to push the take down pin.  No marring on the metal.  Hope that helps.

As others have said, the smaller slide profile takes a little time to get used to.
