Replace trigger CZ 75 pre-be (1990 make)
« on: March 11, 2024, 03:40:59 PM »
I got a CZ75 pre-b model with SA trigger installed. It came with the original DA/SA trigger but one of the "arms" was broken.

So i ordered a new trigger. It looks identical, but when i install it, the trigger is getting stuck. I have to pull it quite hard to get it to set in the DA possition.

If I punch the pin out from the right side a bit, it gets loose. But it has to be something with the hole spaceing or the form of the trigger that makes it stick to the frame.

The aluminium SAO trigger does not do this. Neither does the DA/SA trigger do it when i use a undersize punch to hold it. But when i install the pin, it gets janky

Do you have to make adjustments to the trigger somehow to make it fit? Im trying to eyeball the differences between triggers but it has to be so small margins.

edit: now that i put both triggers in my calipers, i notice the old trigger is thinner overall.
So i probably have to file down the new trigger a bit - 0.1-0.2 mm probably.

Edit 2: I filed/sanded down the trigger sides and now it fit like it should. Also had to thin out the floating trigger pin, it was a bit oversized for the holes.
Now im ready for PPC SSA :)

Glad to hear you've got it where you want it.

Always can be some variation in dimensions.  I guess that's one reason they say (not just liability issues) that you should have a qualified gunsmith install the parts you bought.  But it's often more fun to do it ourselves and not much fun to wait on someone else to do it and then pay them for it when we might have been able to do it ourselves.

And now you know more about your pistol than you would have if you'd paid someone else to do it.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Here in Sweden, 99% of "gunsmiths" are glorified mechanics. They can thread barrels and perhaps plastic bed rifle stock.

Pistols are quite rare for smiths to work with, relatively. There are probably some, but the most prolific and known are probably dead now or to old.

unlike rifles (for hunting) pistols are quite regulated and require you to present training and competition results and get shooting clubs to sign of on a pistol license and that takes a years membership and activity to even sign off on a 9mm.

So to find a smith to help me with this is both expensive and probably 6 months wait, and honestly I doubt they would do a better job in the end.
