I hope this question hasn’t been asked, I see a lot about the slide being locked in the rear facing position but that’s not my issue. This is my first ever handgun and on my third day taking it to the range I was firing a few rounds when I saw some sort of piece fly off of it, and now it’s locked in a forward position, I was able to find a small spring and a pin of some kind but I believe it’s still missing a couple of pieces. I found a diagram online, though I can’t figure out how to attach it to this post. The pieces I think I'm missing are 48, 49, and 65 on the diagram if that helps. Is this something I can learn to fix at home? Or would it be best if I found a gunsmith in my area?

If it's stuck forward and there could be a round in the chamber--have a gunsmith take care of it!

I would eject mag first.

Drop a pencil in the barrel how deep it goes will tell you if there is a round in the chamber. If no round in chamber you may want to take a glue stick or plastic rod and see if it will tap open.

1) Welcome from Georgia.

Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with all the sticky posts in the 'New Members' section. Together with the Help Topics in the 'Important Information' or 'FAQ' sub-section, these include 'how tos' such as 'how to' post pictures on the forum.

2) Sorry to hear of your issues. This is very strange and very unusual.

Very first thing.... Drop the mag. Clear the weapon of all ammunition that's possible.
If a live round remains in the chamber, then treat it as a loaded weapon. It can still fire.
Also meaning keep your finger away from the trigger and maintain muzzle control at ALL times.

• Normally, I would suggest you mail this back to CZ-USA for warranty work, but you cannot mail a loaded weapon.

• When this happens on a 9mm weapon (which is somewhat common)....
While the muzzle is pointed in a safe direction, grasp the slide with a very strong grip...
And then pound on the butt of the hand grip with the remaining hand.
If your grip isn't that strong, then get some help. A gunsmith will be very practiced at this.

• If you do take it to a gunsmith, then you must tell them that "the gun IS loaded !!"
Call before you go, so that they know to expect you.
Also, take the remainder of the ammo with you for inspection purposes.

• Resist the temptation to put something down the barrel to drive out the round... The ammunition can still go off !!
A detonation would drive the drift AND the bullet through your arm...
While blowing open the exposed portion of the brass, showering anyone nearby with hot gas and brass shrapnel.
Not a happy event.

• In the end, you will need a gunsmith to determine if the gun or the ammo was at fault, before firing the weapon again.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like the loaded chamber indicator has fallen apart. Odd that it would have locked the slide up though unless a part of it such as the retaining screw has gotten down inside and tied the gun up. If there is a round chambered and you are unable to safely get it out then a gunsmith is your best bet. If this gun is new and under warranty I would contact CZ-USA for a warranty claim.
If it is under warranty you still must clear the gun of all live ammunition before it can be sent in.

Any chance the barrel bushing was installed improperly (see page 11 of instruction manual)?  It's counter intuitive but you don't tighten it fully.  You have to align it with the recoil spring housing such that the bushing is "locked" in place by the recoil spring housing similar to a 1911 bushing.

If the barrel bushing is not aligned properly, it can and will deform when the pistol cycles due to the recoil spring stacking and forcing the bushing inward toward the barrel.  This will lock up the slide, normally in the open position.  Just a thought.

What ammunition were you shooting when this happened?

Cheers,
Toby
