You'll get mixed responses on which was bests.

I like the Omega because I could remove the decocker levers and install the safeties and carry it cocked and locked, like my CZ75 Compact, P07, etc.

Some people prefer the decocker models and see no need of an Omega model that allows you to set it up for the safeties.

As to why they stopped making them?  They'll never tell.  They've quit making darn near everything I liked or bought.  Don't need any of what they are currently making.  I've got extras of what I have in case they decide to stop supply parts, too.  And a drawer full of parts I've bought over the years.

I'm sure, if you look, you can find P01 Omegas on line or at gun shows.  I found an old P07 DUTY .40 S&W last year at a gun show, still in it's box with the manual, cleaning stuff, safety levers in the bag and two magazines.  One of the mags was perfectly new and appears to have never been inserted into the magazine well.  Both had sticky labels on them to show they were .40 S&W mags and those labels were perfet/unscratched or torn.  That gun was made in 2010.  Look and you'll find the P01 you want sooner or later.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I like the P-01 Omega. Easy to work on. Simple trigger job with the M*CARBO kit.

I prefer the de-cocker. Installing a safety so one can carry cocked and locked seems antiquated anymore with good double action and striker-fired pistols.

As I recall, the Omega triggers had a reputation for going “dead” without warning — not good for a SHTF pistol. Also, it seemed like a lot of owners complained about the trigger pull, for whatever reason.

The overall impression I got was negative on the Omega triggers, though I’m no fan of safeties on pistols, myself — DA/SA decockers for me.

More importantly, there are good reasons why the US Military got away from carrying the 1911 “cocked and locked,” even with the grip safety.

I have not heard of the dead trigger issue. I did hear of the earlier models having walking left side decocker levers. I believe that issue was fixed though.

I have both a P01 Omega and a PCR.  Both are cajunized.

That said, before Cajun work, the P01 Omega’s trigger pull both DA/SA, was better than the PCR.  I also preferred the Omega trigger shape to the stock PCR.

After Cajun work, the PCR is slightly better, but just so.

I’m a decocker fan, so I won’t be changing it to a manual safety, but it’s nice to have that option if my preference changes.

My sense is you can’t go wrong with either version of P01.  Both will serve you well .  If you find either at a good price, grab it.

The dead trigger issue was on the very early P-07's and never was an issue on the metal framed guns.
